Thompson was selected in the first round of the 2011 NBA draft by Golden State with the 11th overall pick. “I’ve always said that (murcurynews.com). Playing for one team your whole career is definitely special. Only so many guys have done it in professional sports, so it’ll be a goal of mine. Hopefully it all works out (murcurynews.com).” In 2016 Klay’s salary was 15.5 million USD. So the Warriors seem to think very highly of him to pay that much on him to stay with them and improve their game. Klay tweeted out that “I have gotten to where i am now because of hard work”, some would say Klay has seemed to work diligently to get to the performance shooter he is
Shortly before the deadline Larry finally signed with the Boston Celtics for $650,000, making him the highest paid rookie in NBA history. Larry's collegiate rival Earvin 'Magic' Johnson had also entered the NBA with the Los Angeles Lakers. Not only did they fight for the National Championship a year before, but their rookie seasons they were both in the run for Rookie of the Year. Magic may have taken the NCAA title but Larry took the Rookie of the Year award and was voted into the Eastern Conference All- Star team in the 1979- '80 season.
O’Neal was projected to be picked in the top three of the 1992 draft class. The Orlando Magic had the first pick in the draft and they have expressed high interest in O’Neal, but nothing had been set in stone. When the commissioner announced the first pick of the draft, it was none other than Shaquille O’Neal from LSU. Coming into the NBA, many articles and magazine have been published regarding O’Neal and his influence on the Magic regarding their fans and identity. O’Neal provided an immediate presence on the basketball court with his qualities. O’Neal’s qualities like “His size, strength, athleticism were unmatched, and his trademark ‘Shaq Attaq’ was a dunk dew players could stop” (“Shaquille O’Neal” Internet). In his rookie season with the Orlando Magic, Shaquille O’Neal earned Rookie of the Year honors with his 23.4 points, 13.9 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 3.5 blocks per game. Rookie “Shaq” provided performances that have not been seen before in the 45-year history of the NBA. O’Neal went on to play four total seasons with the Orlando Magic and he posted Most Valuable Player (MVP) like numbers that put him into conversations with the other great big-men as one of the best low-post players. He led the Orlando Magic to the NBA Finals, but his team could not pull out the win. Shaquille O’Neal’s stock was rising higher and he was heading into free agency, the period where a
Reggie Harding was the first high school player to make the jump from high school to the NBA, and he did this in 1963. He spent five mediocre seasons in the NBA and was never the special player that people thought he would have been. Since then, there have been around 40 high school players who have decided to skip college and declare for the NBA draft. The bulk of these players have come within the last seven to ten years. Out of these forty or so players, no more than ten have had a successful career. Last year seven high school players entered the NBA draft, and only one of those seven had a successful first season, and that was Lebron James (Smith).
However, these obstacles only made Kevin Durant and his family more tenacious. His mother worked the night shifts to do her best to provide for Kevin and his brother. In middle school, Kevin was teased for his height; little did they know they would be watching him on national television in a few years because of his height (and a few other factors). In Kevin’s freshman year of high school, Kevin’s teammates would not pass him the ball. It was not a normal thing to have a freshman playing on the varsity team, and his teammates were not very supportive.
After passing his final exams in 1994, Iverson accepted an athletic scholarship to Georgetown University. As a member of the Georgetown Hoyas, Iverson immediately became the team’s star. During his freshman year he averaged twenty points, 4.7 assists, and 3.5 steals per game and was named the 1995 Big East Rookie of the Year and Big East Defensive Player of the Year. His performance was equally impressive during his sophomore year, and he was once again named Big East Defensive Player of the Year as well as named to the Associated Press’s 1996 First Team

Down two with six seconds to go fatigue had taken it tolls on the players. With little energy left; over time was not an option. I knew I had to go for the win. I walk on the floor confident of my ability that was until the whistle blew quickly turning my confident to butterflies. As I fought to get open I quickly saw the ball coming my way. As I rose for a jump shot time itself began to stay still. An in flesh everything became silent. As I watch the ball leave my hand I envisioned greatness; sure the ball was on its way in I started to celebrate that was until I hear the announcer say my teammate tip in miss shot to win us the game. Mix with emotion I celebrate with my teammate. “Ok guys, we have 24 hours until tip off. Get some rest because this is going to be the biggest game of your life. Let’s bring this championship back to Barton College. Go Bulldogs and Goodnight!” Why few players stay in the lobby to hang out I took it talk upon to work on my game and reflect on the semifinal game that just took place. At basketball games you will notice how there are all sorts of fans attending the game.
