Leadership is a skill of having the ability to guide someone, or something. Leaders are people that others look at. Leaders are often looked at during good times to see how they handle success. Leaders are also looked at during the hard times. When things aren't going well, leaders are looked at to see how they handle these hard times. Leaders have impact on others around them. You can either be a leader or a follower, but you can't be both.
In the Ted Talk Tuesday, " Everyday Leadership," Drew Dudley explained that leadership is powerful. Leadership is so powerful, that in one moment it can change someone's life. He called these moment, "Lollipop Moments." Theses lollipop moments affect someone and impact someone so much that is changes their life. The moment could be something the leader does, or a message given. Dudley also talked about how some people are afraid to call themselves leaders. Leading doesn't always mean leading by your voice. You don’t have to know the best words or give the best speeches to be a leader. A leader can also lead by example. Someone who leads by example leads through their actions and their effort. Leading by example has to do with that person's attitude. Their attitude towards an obstacle, another person, or even themselves. The attitude a leader has towards an obstacle with show whether they will get over the obstacle. If this person takes on the obstacle with a positive attitude and lots of effort to get over the obstacle and be successful, then that person shows the ability to lead. That leader would be someone who leads by example. If you lead by example you will be looked at during the hard times to see how you react and respond.
