Some people live by the motto YOLO, which means you only live once. In the dystopian novel Fahrenheit 451, by Ray Bradbury, the people like to do things that make them happy. The things that make the characters happy might not necessarily be good for them. In Fahrenheit 451 Bradbury is indicating that ignorance can lead to destruction by overusing technology, censorship, and the fact that human life isn’t valued. The overuse of technology is not good because people get alienated from reality. The characters in Fahrenheit 451 have a parlor room in their house which has large TV screens instead of walls. The main character, Guy Montag, is married to a woman named Mildred. Mildred calls the characters in the shows she watches her ¨family.¨ Mildred
