The book that we read for this month is Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson. Treasure Island was a very good book. It was filled with adventure, sadness, surprises, and fighting. I think that Treasure Island helped me understand the life of being at sea and also the hardships you face. The book is mostly narrated by Jim Hawkins and it feels like you are in the story with Jim. Sometimes, you feel like you are part of the story. The reason we are writing this book report is for English class.
The setting took place during the eighteenth century. They started off near Bristol, England and later in the book, they travel to Treasure Island which is located off the coast of “Spanish America.” The setting of the book does change because they Jim starts off in England and then sets sail to Treasure Island to look for the lost treasure. The setting is critical to the book because in order for the other scenes to take place, the setting of the book has to change.
Jim Hawkins is the main character of the book. He narrates most of the story and he tells us about his experience on Treasure Island. The only time Jim doesn’t narrate is during the three chapters that Dr. Livesey narrates. Other than that, Jim is the narrator for this book. Long John Silver is a secondary character in the story. Even though he is only a secondary character, he still plays an important role in the book. Long John Silver is very cunning and mischievous. Silver was always fond of Jim and they had many things in common. Another secondary character is Dr. Livesey. Dr. Livesey is a very knowledgeable and trustworthy man. Jim gives Dr. Livesey the treasure map in the beginning when they found the treasure map. Dr. Livesey also plays an important role in the stor...

...atched each other’s backs and helped each other. This theme is very important in life because it gives us an example of how we should stay strong through anything. We need to be more courageous like Jim and we need to try to conquer the hardships.
I think that Treasure Island was a great book and was filled with lots of adventure and excitement. I liked how the book turned out in the end and it was a great book. I would recommend other seventh and eighth graders to read this book. This book has a wonderful moral about being courageous and it also shows that adventure comes in many different ways. After reading the book, it gave me a motivation to become more courageous and to conquer adversity. Overall, the book was great and had a great plot. Treasure Island takes you on a journey to a different world and it is filled with excitement, thrill, peril, and many more.
