Introduction:
Suriname officially known as the ‘Republic Of Suriname’, is a country found on the Northeastern Atlantic Coast of South America. The country is bordered by French Guiana to the east, Guyana to the west and Brazil to the south. Being the smallest independent country in South America, Suriname has population of about 573,311 estimated in July 2014. With the amount of population in the country, it has variety of Ethnic Groups which spreads all around the country. Having 37% of Hindustani (East Indians), 31% of Creole, 15% of Javanese, 10% of Marrons, 2% of Amerindian, 2% of Chinese, 1% of White and 2% of Other Ethnic Groups in the population. The country has a total area of 163,820 sq km, it uses 0.36% for Arable Land, 0.04% for Permanent Crops and the remaining 99.6% for other purposes. Suriname having considerable amount of land, has wide spread of Natural Resources which are Timber, Hydropower, Fish, Kaolin, Shrimp, Bauxite, Gold, Small Amounts of Nickel Copper, Platinum and Iron Ore. Having a variety of different Natural Resource, Suriname’s Economy is mainly dominated on the Mining Industry, exporting Alumina, Gold and Oil. Most of the exports coming out from Suriname are Oil, accounting for 85% of the exports in Suriname, giving 25% of the revenue to the Government. But as the Mining Industry is the leading economy for Suriname, the country is highly vulnerable to price volatility making the Suriname’s Economy inconsistent with its export, thus detroiazing Suriname’s Economy as whole. But overall Suriname’s Economy has steady growth of 4 to 5% per year, even though the volatility of the Mining Industry which are Suriname’s dominate exports. In this case the project which is the solution will help Houses be more affordable so people, wouldn’t live in illegal dwelling areas and also to give them proper facilities. With this project the people who are affected would be given 682 helping payments for their home to fix/extend their houses, this is the solution for the Housing Problem. Lastly the Health Sector of the country, the solution for this problem here is to have a clean range of potential clean drinking water system, water collected with this system would help generally supply the entire community. This water usage would help the population become more hygienic and healthier because of the wide access of water supplying them. These are the current solutions for the problems at hand in Suriname and will help the country improve its problem for the future ahead of them.
