Robots and Humanity: Should We Be Worried? Robots are slowly going to become our friends, workers, and maybe even our lovers. At least that is what we hear and think. Some people might be wondering, “Why would I want a robot as a lover? Am I going to be able to sit down all the time and take a rest while my robot does everything for me?” Many questions like these are going through our minds, and as technology evolves, we will have more questions in the future. The thing we most focus on now is how robots are going to make our lives easier. However, future generations might have some second thoughts about trusting robotic minds that do not think or understand like humans’ minds do. Robots could be very dangerous and risky; many situations have Children these days rely on robotic machines more and more. In some cases, parents might be allergic to animals while their child wants a pet and they end up buying a robotic pet. These robotic pets do not think and have feelings like real pets do. Therefore, children would not feel the same connection with a robotic pet and they would not have the same affection and the relationship as with a real one. At least that is what we thought before the robotic invention. However, scientists nowadays would say robots could fill in for real pets and children can have those connections with them. Moreover, as is shown in the Live Science article titled “Human-Robot Relations: Why We Should Worry” by Clara Moskowitz, scientists have invented friends for older people. These robots can talk to them and make them feel comfortable. One of many is a robot called Paro. A robotic baby that was created to help the older people that are struggling with misery and insanity (Moskowitz). Elders would be able to feel the love and not be alone since they have these robots to talk to and even serve them with the things they need. Robots have had a major positive impact in these people’s lives which resulted in happier The safety issue is what concerns many buys the most. By getting a robot and making it complete your chores, you are given full access of your personal life to this robot. “Robots have a specific job to do that is ordered by their operator, and if the robot malfunctions, this could cause chaos” (Cortland Suny 4). If anything goes wrong, it would be an enormous disaster. Robots do not respond to emergencies and accidents like human beings do. If there was an error in the robot’s system, it might cause fires or explosions. Securing robots should be taken more seriously in order for the people to trust procuring
