Introduction Introduction and scope: The Rainbow Greenhouse’s safety plan implements and provides Work Safe BC and FARSHA’s (Farm and Ranch Health and Safety Association) rules and procedures of how to operate in a safe work environment that is free of accidents on the workplace and serves as a main document for the coordination of the safety management of Rainbow Greenhouse. Rainbow Greenhouse’s mission is to provide a safe and healthful work environment on the job site to all employees that work there. Ensuring that the employees of Rainbow Greenhouse feel safe when performing their job duties is at the highest level of importance for the company. The purpose of this plan is to establish an effective safety management strategy that will help company: • Protect the health of employees at the job site and manage their security • Provide a safe work environment to its employees • Protect its assets, such as physical facilities and equipment and prevent any damages to them • Educate its employees with the safety rules and procedures • Create a healthy and safe culture in the organization This health and safety plan applies to all employees that are engaged in the operation of Rainbow Greenhouse, including all positions of the business. Managers, supervisors, and safety coordinators are responsible for implementing and complying with the safety work practices at all facilities of the business, answering the questions of the workers regarding the safety, and informing the workers of any changes/updates of the health and safety plan of the organization. The management organizes safety meetings in order to: • Review the incidents and performance of their employees for the past period of time • Review the potential hazards that were identified by the employees and management itself • Raise any concerns of the employees and try dealing with it • Talk about fire and earthquake safety tips, emergency evacuation, and machinery lock-out procedures. All of the employees of Rainbow Greenhouse are truly encouraged to look for any potential hazards at the workplace and to report these hazards to the supervisors and communicate this information with the fellow workers. Management encourages such activities in order to increase the employees’ morale and emphasize the fact that they are the most responsible for their own safety.
