About three years ago, I had a condition called Pelvic inflammatory disease also known as PID. Pelvic inflammatory disease is a sexual transmitted infection which inflamed my pelvic organs such as: my uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries, and cervix (M.Stoppler). It is caused by microorganisms ascending along the mucous surfaces of my vagina into the endometrial cavity (A. Black). Chlamydia, gonorrhea, bacterial vaginosis, mycoplasma hominis, ureaplasma urealyticum and trichmonas vaginalis are common organisms that can lead to PID (A. Black). Using IUD birth control can also cause PID (P.Insel/ W.Roth). Most of the time the infection is caught early and can be treated with antibiotics (P.Insel/ W.Roth). I tried fertility drugs to help me ovulate. The fertility drugs were very expensive! The risk of using fertility drugs is that it may cause multiple births instead of just one (P.Insel/ W.Roth). On the other side, fertility drugs do not always work for some individuals, and I was one of them. When that didn’t work me and my boyfriend tried ART which is assisted reproductive technology (P.Insel/ W.Roth). ART shows statistics that these treatments help couples give about 1-3% of births in the USA and also in Europe (P.Insel/ W.Roth). Another way to try and have conceive is called IVF (P.Insel/ W.Roth). IVF stands for in vitro fertilization (P.Insel/ W.Roth). IVF is a surgical procedure where the mature eggs are removed from a women's ovary and paired up with sperm outside of the women's body (P.Insel/ W.Roth). If the eggs become successfully fertilized then the embryo is inserted into the women's uterus Depending on age, the success rate varies from 4% to 40% (P.Insel/ W.Roth). The cost for this surgical procedure is also very expensive. It cost more than $10,000 per procedure (P.Insel/ W.Roth). This procedure does increase the chances of having more than one kid and has a risk of premature birth (P.Insel/
