Women a mother, wife, lover or girlfriend as google define it. But what does it mean to be a black woman in America society? A society where social media seems to define our lives and set the norm of society. According to “Sister Citizen, there are three historically constructed myths of black womanhood: the hypersexual black woman, the mammy, and the angry black women”. But where did such a unique assumption came from? Perhaps Hollywood? Looking at one of Hollywood most successful and popular actor and director Tyler Perry. Mostly known for portraying the character “Madea”. The interesting thing about Madea is that many people find the character auspicious however to some individuals Madea is seen as an insult to black woman. Because Madea is characterized as a tough, masculine, well build oversize angry old woman who would go to extreme means to get even with anyone. Madea is especially known for her temperament and tough childhood. By demonized black women and instill this idea that black woman is tough and angry all the time because of their rough and tough childhood. Psychologically Young black women lives are affected by such notorious notions of being hypersexual angry black mammy women and in a way predetermine their lives. Why would black women bother to venture out into the world and try to make themselves somebody when society already conceived a negative idea of who they are? Why would black women even try to get involved in politics when it’s dominated by young and old white men? Society already determined the lives of black women, Hollywood created character’s to glorify and make money off of black women stereotype why even bother to do something better when the entire world seems to be against
