Ever since technology arrived it has made people’s lives easier. It has allowed people to do many things and now it is everywhere. From stores to clothes, it’s tracking people down. The youth is the group that is mostly targeted since they are mostly exposed to the new technology. Although technology has helped millions worldwide, technological advances have invaded people’s privacy and thoughts using many methods. This is why technology has a negative impact on American youth. Aside from technology invading youth’s privacy, it helps them by improving daily life. When they go to stores they sometimes don’t find something they like, so technology has is solving this problem. For example, companies are getting information about where people go through coats. No computers are involved, only a small tag. In text 3 it states, “Gathering information stored in the RFID tag in a winter jacket worn in public is not an invasion of privacy, yet pulling data off undergarments is intrusive” This shows that information is collected from anyone’s coat, wherever they go, and companies think this isn’t an invasion of privacy. This means that wherever someone had gone the RFID will pull data about you and it isn’t an invasion of privacy. Identically to this store owners are using mannequins to get info about the youth. They record what you see and what you say. In text 2, it states “as the Eyesee mannequins show, you no longer even have to be in front of your computer to have your consumer data accessed, uploaded, stored, and tracked.” This means that teens don’t have to be in front of a screen to have their information taken. In this case technology has made its way into things that aren’t related to it in any way. Now every time someone passes by a store and makes a comment, those mannequins will be able to hear that comment and save it for the store owner to use.
