Essay On Family Vacation

Our imperative family tradition was a summer vacation. Completely neglecting any responsibilities for a week, vacations were the perfect excuse. Fostering an environment for bonding, our annual vacations helped in creating lifelong memories. According to a Disney Time Survey conducted by Kelton, 82% of time on vacation is considered family time. This finding is evident, especially in one of my recent vacations. The months preceding and following this specific family trip, were filled with various milestones which prohibited much bonding: my mother’s diagnosis of Lung Cancer, my older sister’s wedding day, and my senior year preparation. If it wasn’t for our last hurrah, we may not have been able to successfully sit the needed amount of time
My sister and I, avid Twenty One Pilots fans, wanted to hit up one of their shows in Colorado. Partnered with a handful of other thoroughly enjoyable bands, Twenty One Pilots were guaranteed to put on the concert of the year. With no hesitation, we presented this idea to our mother and she backed us up. AFter much anticipation, it was decided, our 2014 summer vacation would take place in Colorado to enjoy mountains and exceptional music.

My family and I separated as we searched for souvenirs. After finding a shirt, keychain, or pocket knife we started off on a scavenger hunt to piece together the family. My mother was located in the bathroom, she had an overactive bladder and this trip, thankfully, was not too long for her. My sister was examining the gemstones found in the nearby mines. It took a decent amount of time before we found my brother and my father. However, when we found them it made sense why it took so long. The elevation was not being friendly with my brother and stole the majority of his oxygen. We hurriedly purchased the overpriced souvenirs and decided to head back down. Exiting the building we caught glimpse of the breathless view. My mother noticed that it was in alignment with the Pike’s Peak sign and decided that we should huddle together quickly for a photo. We had a stranger take the picture and we headed down the mountain. After careful review, we decided that it was the best photo that we have ever taken together; I still hold pride in it.
Although the concert was magnificent and left me speechless, I cannot deny the importance that Pike’s Peak played in our family vacation. There was little to no dispute during the trip and lots and lots of laughter. Snowball fights
