Nitrous oxide is administered via a face mask and is used to take the edge off of your nerves. This form of sedation is great for uncomplicated procedures and for patients experiencing only mild levels of fear or anxiety. If you fall into this category, nitrous oxide sedation may be for you.
Oral Conscious Sedation
Oral conscious sedation is our next highest level of sedation. This form of sedation is administered via a small pill and must be taken before the office visit in order to have time to take effect. This means that you will need assistance with transportation to and from the office. This medication offers a moderate level of sedation, often leaving the patient very relaxed or even groggy. Oral conscious sedation is great for more complicated procedures and patients who have a higher level of fear or anxiety.
IV Sedation
IV sedation is reserved for our most complicated procedures and patients with very high levels of fear and anxiety. IV sedation creates a sleep-like state that allows you to wake up from a procedure with no memory of the sights, smells, sounds, or sensations that occurred during the treatment.
