Our environment is affected by our daily actions and our society. The earth is plagued with land, air and water pollution. Pollution is the act or process of polluting or the state of being polluted, especially the contamination of soil, water, or the atmosphere by the discharge of harmful substances. Efforts to improve the standard of living for humans through the control of nature and the development of new products have also resulted in the pollution of the environment. We have many pollutants, which cause air pollution. Some examples are carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide. All of these pollutants can cause lot cancer, birth defects, brain and nerve damage, long-term injury to the lungs etc. They also harm nature and our environment by destroying forests, lakes, and animals. .Air Pollution is also a form of pollution and arises from factories and transportation depend on huge amounts of fuel. Numerous tons of coal and oil are being consume around the world every year. When we use these types of fuel, they produce not only smoke, but they also put by-products into the atmosphere. The cumulative effect of air pollution poses a grave threat to humans and the environment. “Chemical reactions involving air pollutants can create acidic compounds which can cause harm to vegetation and buildings. Even though water has the capacity to break down or dissolve many materials, especially organic compounds, pollution in our bodies of water are becoming a large problem. Pollutants such as metals, plastics, and some chlorinated hydrocarbons remain in the water and can make it poisonous for most forms of life. Even biodegradable pollutants can damage a water supply for long periods and the life forms within the water start to suffer damage due to pollution.

Lakes are particularly susceptible to pollution because they cannot cleanse themselves as rapidly as rivers or oceans. In recent years, waste treatment plants have developed ways to deal with water contamination. Some places, however, still pollute streams by allowing raw sewage to run into them. Septic tanks and cesspools may also pollute the groundwater and neighboring streams. Even the purified process done at sewage plants can cause water pollution if it contains high concentrations of nitrogen and
