Engineering is defined as the science based profession by which the physical forces of nature and the properties of
matter are made useful to mankind in the form of structures, machines, and other products or processes at a reasonable cost
of money and time. An engineer is a person trained or skilled in designing and planning the performance of such equipment
as machines and structures and in supervising their performance.
An Environmental (or sanitary) Engineer is concerned with the water and sewage treatment as well as the resi-
dential and industrial wastes. Environmental engineers are trained in preventing, evaluating, and solving environmental
problems. To be successful, environmental engineers must combine technical knowledge with effective communication
skills in day-to-day work and be able to communicate effictively with people of all types if they are to succeed in solving all
of the problems facing them. The protection of rivers and lakes is part of their responsibility. In this profession, a know-
ledge of chemistry and biology must be added to the engineering base. There are many different jobs that the enviorn-
mental engineers have to do. First, there is Water Quality. Protecting the quality of water required for human use and
environmental protection is an important role for environmental engineers. Increasingly severe quality standards for drink-
ing water, wastewater, pollutant, and groundwater require engineers and scientists trained in the theory and practice of
water and wastewater treatment. In addition, environmental engineers must be able to predict the fate of contaminants in
multimedia enironments in order to measure the effects of pollution on humans and ecosystems. Water quality engineering
involves the application of environmental chemistry, microbiology and physics together with modeling and process engin-
eering to address these areas.
Second, there is Hazardous Waste Managment. Many industrial societies produce and dispose of significant
amounts of hazardous materials. In sufficient treatment, storage and disposal have resulted in many uncontrolled contami-
nant releases to the environment. Innovative engineering solutions are needed for liquid, gaseous and solid hazardous waste
streams as well as for contaminated site remediation. It is the job of environmental engineers to understand and solve
these waste problems.
Third, there is Air Quality. Air pollution is a big problem in society today. Environmental engineers solve air pol-
lution problems across a range of scales, with particular focus on indoor environments and urban air basins. They also have
to understand the physical and chemical processes that determine the concentrations, fates, and effects of air pollutants; they
The term discretion has several meanings the liberty to decide what should be done in a specific circumstance is one general universal definition. But when dealing with criminal justice and police work the description changes a bit. The criminal justice definition of discretion is Police discretion discusses the authority given to a police officer that allows him or her to decide how to best handle a certain situation. This is designed at increasing the flexibility of the criminal justice system as the punishment may not always be the suitable approach of dealing with crimes. Discretion may also permit a police officer to overlook a minor offense giving the offender a warning. But with discretion the officers try not to overdue the law by not arresting every person for every little crime that they come across.

Water is essential in our everyday life. Water is one of the most important substances on earth. All plants and animals utilize water to survive. Therefore it is vital that there be clean water for our communities to utilize to survive as a whole. Unfortunately because of different determinants our source of water are not always safe to use. We happen to have to deal with contamination of drinking water. Contamination of fresh water used for household needs, including pollution of oceans, rivers, lakes and reservoirs. There are categories of the different contaminants that exist such as Physical contaminants, Chemical contaminants, Biological contaminants, and radiological contaminants ("Types of Drinking Water Contaminants | Drinking Water
Engineers are often younger and lack the advanced interpersonal skills needed to solicit and obtain help from operators. Operators are older and generally do not relay possible improvements to the engineers. The following will discuss the problem, stakeholders, solution and implementation. Statement of the problem The problem with pollution prevention is that it requires people to understand more than the intimate details of the production process; they must also understand the technical possibilities. Many corporations have environmental managers, who are generally responsible for helping corporations comply with the law.
Capitalism, by definition is a good thing. It allows an individual the freedom of controlling their economic destiny. One can open a business, control its prices, and expenditure in which the business either succeeds or fails in proportion to how well it is making profits. The top 1% has taken advantage of it fully and has accumulated vast amounts of wealth and prestige. Although, as shown by this video their profits are rising exponentially while the rest fall behind. It is an interesting topic that is important today and the economy’s future. Do we need to regulate the amount of wealth? Is there a need of taxation to balance this difference? According to the rising percentages, what will happen when big corporate businesses control most of the wealth? These are some questions that can be extrapolated from what’s given.
Waste water treatment plants are essential to communities of all sizes and must work efficiently. Waste water treatment plant primary priority and responsibility is the treatment of incoming sewage water by the removal of biological and chemical wastes so it can be treated and recycled for future use. There are many government agencies and standards set forth to govern and observe the successful treatment of sewage such as: the Department of Environmental Quality, the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System and the Clean Water Act of 1972. Compliance and constant monitoring of the treatment plant’s operations are important; as they protect the surrounding community. A spill or backflow of sewage due to a complete system malfunction could potentially be detrimental to the environment and local community. A precise system, of which must be compliant according to government standards, is critical to maintain low levels of wastes that are returned to neighboring water systems after treatment.
EPA developed the toxicity characteristic to identify wastes likely to leach dangerous concentrations of toxic chemicals into ground water .In order to predict whether The reactivity any particular waste is likely characteristic identifies wastes to leach chemicals into ground that readily water at dangerous levels, EPA explode or designed a lab procedure to undergo violent estimate the leaching potential reactions of waste when disposed in a municipal solid waste landfill. This lab procedure is known as the toxicity Characteristic Leaching
Until 10 years ago, air pollution was thought to be just an urban or local problem until it was discovered that the pollutants could move across continents and oceans. Air pollution is the fundamental factor that causes greenhouse gases, hence climate change and global warming. Air pollutants are the waste products generated from industrial and other processes. They usually come in gases, though aerosols (particles suspended in air, emitted as or formed by transformatio...
The word engineer comes from the latin word ingeniare. ingeniare means construct or craftsmanship. Ever since the beginning of time we have had engineers. Engineering is the combination of math and science , solving world problems to help better the world around us. Being an engineer takes a lot of knowledge, creativity, and hard work. A typical engineer can clearly see a problem and is capable of fining a solution. A senior engineer or engineering manager usually doesnt do as much technical work, but usally lot of managing. Some of the first official engineers were military engineers. They were employed by the goverment to build such things as roads, bridges, and weapons. US mililary Academy at Westpoint was the first school to offer an education in enginnering. Engineering is a very broad field. Engineers are always at a high demand, we could never have enough brilliant minds making the world better. Engineers are needed everywhere. Engineering managers have to have a bachelor's degree or higher, they usually direct and seek solutions to problems and are sometimes called executi...
Engineers are valuable assets to any company because they think analytically. Engineers may advance to become technical specialists or to supervise a staff or team of engineers and technicians. Some eventually become engineering managers or enter other managerial or sales jobs.
Hydrogeochemistry is a sub discipline of hydrogeology, which referred to as Chemical hydrogeology in some references (Domenico and Schwartz, 1990), and Groundwater geochemistry in some others (Merkel and Planer-Friedrich, 2005). One may also points to "Contaminant hydrogeology" used by Fetter, (1998) as another term that carries the same syllabus as Hydrogeochemistry. In all fields of science and engineering, sub-disciplines are develop to accomplish some missions, fulfill some requirements, and supplement the base subject. The same is true with Hydrogeochemistry. This sub-discipline is developing to deal with quality, contamination, chemistry, chemical processes, and reactions that take place in
The use of the computer has had a positive impact on manufacturing engineering in many ways. Engineering is a term applied to the profession in which a knowledge of the mathematical and natural sciences, gained by study, experience and practice, is applied to the efficient use of the materials and forces of nature. The term engineer denotes a person who has received professional training in pure and applied sciences.
Wastewater can be a fancy term used for the water that has been adversely affected by human activity like dishwashing, fertilizing crops, bathing and flushing the toilet.
Water quality can be described as the measurement of the condition of water relative to the requirements of humans, animals and plant’s need. When we talk about water quality testing, we are highlighting a critical piece of natural observing for civil engineers in order to create a specific structure or decision. At the point when water quality is poor, it influences almost every single form of life in our planet; going from plants to animals and thereon. Hydrology, in the other hand, is the study of water. It is important to state that hydrology is a critical part for civil engineers to determine and predicting decisions that will affect our biological environment.
Water and Waste Management Engineering addresses water and waste water treatment, surface and ground water pollution and control, solid and hazardous waste management, contaminant transport and behaviour in the environment. Support areas involving aquatic chemistry, computer modeling, simulation and laboratory experimentation as examples are also stressed.
