After reading the syllabus and attending the first English class, I thought I would pass the class with flying colors. The expectations and mission of the class seemed achievable and I wasn't worried about the rigor because of how approachable and flexible the professors are and the tutors available in the Academic Success Center. English 1303 definitely met the expectations and correlated with promoting growth in writing. With each assignment, every student learned how to incorporate lessons from class in their writing. From practicing punctuation to including newly learned vocabulary words in writing, there were many skills obtained from taking English 1303. For example, I learned how to outline more in depth and use different types of writing styles. Each essay had to be turned in with pre-writing and it helped me visually see a plan for my writing. Therefore, tool 14 was my most helpful assignment because it focuses on prewriting and the different type of methods a writer can plan. As far as differentiating writing styles, our class addresses all the types of essays, while still being creative because students get to chose each topic they …show more content…

I never strived to stay after class or meet with someone for advice on my writing. Similarly, when I was provided the opportunity to resubmit my work I would accept the original grade and not revise. In the Pre-Mortem assignment, I stated that my failure would be spending too much time away from focusing on my courses. On the other hand, my true issue was being content with the work I submitted and never strived for improvement. My grade could definitely be a whole letter grade higher if I spent more time on the course. In addition, English 1303 is as difficult as the student makes it, but with all the extra opportunities that Professor Brown provides there is no way her course should be
