Electronic cigarette is a battery charged electronic device made up of chemicals and metals that produce “vapor”. Also known as e cigarettes, it is used as a smoking cessation, alternative to conventional cigarettes, and those individuals who do not smoke conventional cigarettes. E cigarettes are fairly new, little is known about their long term effects. Studies using participating individuals who smoke e cigarettes are tested on their health risks after using the product. Studies have shown a high increase of cough, throat, and lung irritations after use. Not only can e cigarettes cause health risks, but it also pose a physical risk. Some individuals reported while charging the battery, e cigarettes exploded causing minor burn injuries. Levels

There is a new trend hitting the market known as e-cigarettes, or “vaping.” Many people believe that e-cigarettes are better than traditional cigarettes, but research shows just how unhealthy and harmful e-cigarettes are for everyone. The FDA has not yet decided if e-cigarettes should be regulated as tobacco products. E-cigarettes are marketed to help people quit smoking and live a healthier, nonsmoking life. E-cigarettes are meant to help break the habit of smoking, but why are there so many “toxic chemicals” (gilger) in the vapor?
An electronic cigarette, commonly referred to as an e-cigarette or vape pen, is simply a battery-operated device that releases aerosolized nicotine for inhalation. The device electronically heats a liquid, referred to as e-juice, which is vaporized from heating coils within the device that produces the aerosol that is inhaled. The e-juice contains nicotine and propylene glycol in addition to other chancy additives or flavors. Depending on the brand, each nicotine cartridge is designed to produce about 250-400 puffs. This is equivalent to 1-2 packs of traditional
Electronic cigarettes or “e-cigarettes” were developed in 1963, when Herbert A. Gilbert filed for a patent for a device that replaced burning tobacco with moist, flavored air. It wasn’t until 2004 that the e-cigarette was introduced as a smoking cessation device in the Chinese market, which was attributed to a pharmacist named Hon Lik. (Bekki et al. 11193) Since then, a nicotine carrying aerosol rather than a carcinogen laden smoke. One study of the effectiveness of electronic cigarettes showed that a surveyed group showed that 66.8% reported a reduction in smoking, suggesting that the e-cigarette may be a promising smoking-cessation method. (Siegel et al. 472) Unfortunately, as with all “medicinal”
Smoking cigarettes is a detrimental practice not only to the smoker, but also to everyone around the smoker. According to an article from the American Lung Association, “Health Effects” (n.d.), “Smoking is the leading cause of preventable death in the U.S., causing over 438,000 deaths per year”. The umbrella term for tobacco use includes the use of cigarettes, cigars, e-cigs and chewing tobacco. While tobacco causes adverse health consequences, it also has been a unifying factor for change in public health. While the tobacco industries targets specific populations, public health specifically targets smokers, possible smokers, and the public to influence cessation, policies and education.
Over time, the need for a cigarette increases and the harder it becomes to quit smoking. Some users turn to smoking alternatives in order to quit. The first thing a smoker will reach for is something that looks and feels similar to a normal cigarette. Electronic cigarettes or “e-cigs” were made to resemble the taste and feeling that a tobacco cigarette gives. These combustible cigarettes use water vapor combined with nicotine to re-create the high levels of tobacco.... ...
From my late teens, into my mid-twenties, I was a smoker. At first, it was just recreational; however that changed fairly quickly. I began buying them and smoking regularly throughout the day. It then progressed to smoking a pack per day until it was too late. I was officially addicted. I knew it was a terrible habit and I was shamed of it and would hide it from friends and family hoping they wouldn’t find out. Finally, after coughing hacking, and repeatedly getting sick several times a year, I came to the realization that I had to quit. However, it wasn’t as easy as I had anticipated. After relapsing several times before I was finally able to quit, I broke this terrible habit successfully. It was an extremely difficult habit to break and I’ll never go back. I was a lucky individual who had the mental toughness and willpower to overcome this strong addiction, but Americans struggle to quit each year, and many never do. However, there’s a new product on the market today called electronic cigarettes that are believed to aid individuals in the fight against addiction. It’s a battery powered device that heats a nicotine diluted solution into a vapor that is then inhaled. It’s believed to be a healthier, more affordable alternative to tobacco cigarettes. It is much safer because it doesn’t have nearly as many harmful chemicals as tobacco cigarettes and it’s believed to be much more affordable for consumers. However, many critics believe that electronic cigarettes are extremely addictive and just as harmful. Although electronic cigarettes are believed to be detrimental to people’s heath due to low quality product standards, harmful components in filling solution, and reports suggesting they’re addictive and just as harmful as toba...
For my writing assignment I will be writing about smoking cigarettes, compared to vaping, also known as E-Cigarettes. A cigarette is a small cylinder stick of cut tobacco leaves rolled in thin paper for smoking. The cigarette is lit up at one end causing the cigarette to smolder and then allowing smoke to be inhaled from the other end, which is held in or to the mouth. A cigarette contains nicotine, which is very addictive. Nicotine is absorbed into the bloodstream through the lining of the mouth and the lungs and then travels to the brain. Taking more frequent and deeper puffs of tobacco smoke increases the amount of nicotine absorbed by the body.
Electronic cigarettes or e-cigarettes have gained popularity throughout the year (Pacifici et al., 2015, 7638). E-cigarettes are widely known between the adults and young teenagers, male and female. Year by year, the number of smokers increased among the young teenagers and adults. This is owing to the family influence, work stress, peer pressure and other causes. E-cigarettes also provided a variation of the flavour of the e-liquid which is used in the device to created sweet scented vapour.
One of the biggest problems with society today is children and young adults are turning to electronic cigarettes for a source to nicotine. It is understood that some people might think that electronic cigarettes are better for people but here is why they are not. Electronic cigarettes have the same consequences as normal cigarettes with very few differences, such as in electronic cigarettes there is no tobacco and there is no carbon monoxide. Some might not know what is really in electronic cigarettes. Many people don’t know that there are over seven thousand chemicals and cartridges in these devices. Smoking electronic cigarettes has the same effects as normal cigarettes; they as well have been known to cause cancer and other diseases. Here is why electronic cigarettes are just as bad for the human body as
Most recently, a new form of a cigarette has been introduced to the market. The electronic cigarette or the e-cigarette is a new sensation form of a cigarette. E-cigarette is an electrical device that produces an inhaled mist which excites the tobacco smoking act. E-cigarette has the physical sensation, outlook, and the flavor of a tobacco cigarette. The nicotine content is also believed to equal that of a tobacco cigarette. In order to va...
Everyone knows that cigarettes are horrible for your health and increase your risks of cancer. Not too long ago there was a big advertisement for e-cigarettes also known as vaping. It was advertised to be a healthier alternative and comparable to a nicotine patch to help you quit smoking. Many people began to question this new form of smoking and if it was really a safer alternative. Even though vaping is a safer alternative than smoking, vaping is not harmless because you are still getting nicotine, inhaling poison and risking a weaker immune system.
