Elaine Robinson Beattie’s seminar, “Cultural Superpowers” was the push I needed to consider working in a different field. I value the connection Elaine Robinson Beattie made amongst the seven motivational gifts in Romans and person-job fit (E. Beattie, personal communication, November 5, 2016). Each person has different gifts, which are given to him or her by God. Working a job that best uses an individual’s personal gifts will result in several positive outcomes such as job satisfaction, low stress and high performance (Tomlinson & Winston, 2011).

Elaine Robinson Beattie discussed how we should be whom God created us to be and not compare ourselves to others (E. Beattie, personal communication, November 5, 2016). I now know that I need to focus on what I do well. I have the best customer service! Hospitality is my gift. I am constantly researching ideals for entertaining guest. I love making moments as pleasant as possible for patients and customers. I should be in the hospitality industry. This seminar gave me this direction.
