Eleven seasons, two hundred and forty-one episodes and that wasn’t enough to keep the neurosurgeon Derek Shepherd on Grey’s Anatomy. The slaughter occurred on episode twenty-one of the eleventh season back in April 2015. The episode was called “How to save a life”. To kill him off, Derek got t-boned by a speeding car. After that, he was brought into the hospital and they wouldn’t let the resident doctor do the important test that could’ve saved his life. They then realized he had severe bleeding in his brain and it was too late once the neurosurgeon decided to show up. They shouldn’t have killed off the best character on Grey’s Anatomy also known as Derek Shepherd. They shouldn’t have killed him off because the death was clearly last minute, the ratings have gone downhill and Derek was one of the most important characters. If you're someone who has watched Grey's Anatomy from episode one, you have probably grown to know and love Derek Shepherd. You may also know him as McDreamy and they called him that for a reason. With part of the population of people who watch Grey's Anatomy, Derek was dreamy and the perfect husband. Why would you kill their dreams of having a husband just like Derek? Shonda is saying that perfect husbands don’t last forever they just die thanks to awful surgeons and car accidents. Derek also has a loving wife (Meredith, the main character) and they had the best love story on the show but it is far too long to get into. He has three kids, but Shonda killed him off before he got to meet his third child he so desperately wanted. He has also been through so much on the show. He got shot, his ex-wife came back, he did a clinical trial for Alzheimer's and he survived an airplane crash. Derek could survive all that, but he couldn’t survive a simple car crash. Shonda, he was so important to the show, why would you kill him
