The consumption of humans is an inhumane practice. So why eat people if it's found disgusting in a large majority of the world? In most cases, people eat other people because they are in an "eat or be eaten" situation. An example of an "eat or be eaten" situation would be the Donner Party. Although some people eat people because they need to live, some cultures eat people as part of funeral services, punishments, and other practices. The murder and consumption of people is illegal and frowned upon in many civilizations. Lots of nations around the world dislike cannibalism, but they must respect other people's customs and behavior; no matter how peculiar they may seem. Although cannibalism may be more convenient, there are certain risks of eating people. No matter how tempting cannibalism may be, the risk of damaging your mental and physical health along with the lack of nutrition may tell you otherwise.

We have been taught to believe that cannibalism is one of the worst things we could do, even though it's so common in the animal kingdom itself. Cannibalism has been practiced as more of a choice than a necessity; the motivation for that choice varies. If cannibalism was commonly practiced in most human cultures, that would make it seem as if cannibalism was an easy choice to make, but as we live now, cannibalism is practiced in very few religions. If it was a popular thing to be a cannibal, wouldn't that make the person not practicing cannibalism different and going against what was taught? (Englehaupt)
Cannibalism in a survival situation may be different, if it can keep you alive (as mentioned previously it is a main goal) long enough to get rescued, is it ok to resort to it? If there are dead members of a group, and you are starving, would you not consume their body(ies) rather than die of
