Effective communication is fundamental in building positive relationships with children, young people and adults alike. Having good communication skills will help us develop better relationships, especially with children. When speaking with a person whether it a child or adult, you should adapt to the situation accordingly and you should be at a similar level to the person you are speaking to. For example, when speaking with a younger child, you should come down to their level, so showing the child you have equal power. Children are aware of facial expressions and how approachable you are. Talking with children, asking and answering questions also helps build their language skills. If pupils are distressed and need to talk about it, they will more likely open up to the person who has made them feel that they have a voice. Homeschooled children have the same, if not more, socialization skills than children that go to public schools. Some public schooled children might think that because homeschooled children do not go to a public school that they do not have friends or the social skills that come with going to a public school with their peers. I grew up in the public schools so before doing research I believed that home schooled children did not have the same amount of social skills as public and private schooled children because they did not have to learn in a room full of other kids, which seems to be where kids learn how to take turns and interact with other children of their age.

Communication is something we all humans use. Communication “is the sharing of information between individuals by using speech”. People have ways of communicating some have their weaknesses in conversations and others have their strengths. When I communicate with others I feel that some things I say I do not verbalize right. I have two strengths and three weaknesses in my communicating. My three weakens in my communication are, check nonverbal feedback, to make people wrong and recognize that people understand information in different ways and my two strengths in my communication are being flexible, and take responsibility for the communication.
But, remember that verbal communication is not the only form of communication. Your nonverbal communication can say a lot to the receiver (i.e. body language. Use supportive messages rather than defensive ones to be more productive. Any conflict can be resolved through correct and effective communication.
Clearly, communication plays a significant role in every aspect of our life. Communication is the simply act of conveying information from one person to another by using voice (verbally), gesture or body language (nonverbally), books or magazines (written), pictures (visually). The better communication skills that one has is the better the information could be transferred and received. The ability to convey information successfully and clearly is a fundamental life skill and should not be underestimated. Parent teacher communication is very important to make sure that everyone is on the same page when it comes to everything educational related. Whether it is behavior or learning, a lot can be learned when parents and teachers communicate about their child and student. I know myself in particular I enjoy going to parent teacher meetings or IEP because I get to learn how my child is doing when they are not with me. It makes it possible for us to discuss what is working and not working with the students. Maybe the parents may have ideas to give the teacher when it comes to behavior or learning techniques for there child. The parent is with or near the child the other two thirds of the day.
