“Those who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who only dream by night” (Edgar Allan Poe). Edgar Allan never really knew his parents. At the age 3 he was adopted by John and Frances Allan. At the age of 13 he became an incredible poet but John Allan discouraged his literally talents. However, Poe continued to write poems on the back of business profit papers. Poe went to the University Of Virginia in 1826 and he excelled in his classes. Most fascinated author Edgar Allan Poe in history has changed literature, by inventing detective fiction, and has influenced writers all around the world.

Edgar Allan Poe was first author to write horror stories; he brought thrills to stories/poems. “The Raven” and “The Tell-Tale Heart” were two of the most famous horror stories that Edgar Allan Poe wrote (Biography.com Editors). “The Tell-Tale Heart” was a story that had sanity and murder that the narrator committed. Both of these stories are chilling and after these stories were published people stated reading horror stories. These stories caught many people’s eye. These stories had changed perspective of horror stories. Edgar Allan Poe was a principal forerunner of the “Art for Art’s sake” movement in the nineteenth’s century European history. The “Art for Art’s Sake” is a concept that needs no justification and serves no purpose but the beauty of fine arts/literature (newwroldencyclopedia.org). it was adopted by many authors such as Oscar Wilde, Walter Pater, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, and Arthur Symons. This movement that Edgar Allan Poe was a principal of showed that there is beauty to fine arts/literature.
