In this day and age, much more awareness is being raised given the current global situation where many resources that are being used are harming the environment and our surroundings. Being the general manager of a sea-side superior hotel doesn’t only include the role of being an overseer and making sure that everyone is doing their job well. It is essential for the benefit of the hotel itself and the surrounding areas for the manager to take certain measures which would certainly contribute to the process of becoming an eco-friendly hotel. This will be beneficial not only for the guests staying at the hotel, but also for the environment.
Various measures could be taken, some of which including waste management, the use of renewable resources and energy, the introduction of locally made products, basic training and awareness for employees amongst others. Green furniture is usually made of natural resources and recycled material such as wood mostly bamboo which is technically a grass. The advantage of using eco-friendly furniture is mainly the reduction of chemicals and volatile organic compounds released, which results in clean air. Additionally, local organic food would be introduced in the menu. This is of great benefit to the environment as organic food is grown with no pesticides or fertilizers and therefor petroleum products are not used as much. Apart from being non-harmful to the environment, the introduction of organic foods would also bring about a healthier lifestyle to the guests of the hotel.
