ENGL1103 Unit 3 written assignment 2 of 4
Although there are several features to be a good writing, the most important trait in a business context is to persuade or motivate a reader to conduct a target action. For this purpose, the ancient Greek teacher Aristotle claimed “three elements of rhetoric, or the art of presenting an argument”; logos (logic), ethos(ethics and credibility), and pathos (emotional appeal) (Saylor Foundation,
n.d.). Kostelnick and Roberts (1998) also proposed the cognate strategies to create an effective writing; clarity, conciseness, arrangement, credibility, expectation, reference, tone, emphasis, and engagement. Here, I only pick up five strategies;

ENGL1103 Unit 3 written assignment 3 of 4 The credibility strategy is to acquire an impression to be trustworthy. People often judge the value of information based on who provide it, but not what it is. This principal is true in written communication as well. Unlike oral communication, a reader usually can’t see your non-verbal language such as facial expression and clothes he/she wears. However, a reader still infers the writer’s personality, ability, and trustworthiness by looking a style of writing. Therefore, a writer should care about his/her writing style and avoid features to affect his/her impression negatively.
For example, I always make an effort to avoid spelling, grammar, and syntax errors when I make a document. Additionally, I have decided to use a word processor to create a decent document and did not handwrite. I believe these efforts make my writing decent and increase the credibility. The reference strategy is to support one’s opinion by other authoritative sources or pieces of evidence. We use this strategy in everyday life intentionally or unintentionally. For example, once I promoted sales of a diet supplement that

The audience for writing project one: summary and response will be my classmates and my instructor, Avon Waters. I am writing this for English 111 – an online Ivy Tech college course. This is the first writing project of four for semester one. The assignment is to select a core reading resource from the group listed and perform a summary and response style paper, using proper APA formatting and introducing the concept of a situation analysis. The core reading piece I have selected is one that personally interested me, as it deals heavily with history and facts versus opinions and controversy. This will be in APA format, as with every other paper written in this course. My goal with this paper is to offer additional insight into the piece I
1) I believe that my theoretical curves don’t really match like figure 4 but then again it somewhat does. My immigration curve and extinction curve do hit each other once, but not like in figure 4 where they hit each other twice. Also my extinction curve is going up like in figure 4 and my immigration curve is going down just like in figure 4. So I guess you could say that my curves represent the curves on figure 4.
I read the Syllabus very carefully, as requested, and I do not have any questions. The topic I choose to do a web field trip on to search and return with one fact is “Specific Populations to assess: developmentally challenged”. I am using information from APA.org, which is where I found the one fact that was requested for this assignment. What I found was a set of guidelines for the treatment and assessment of people with disabilities that were developed by a task force of APA specialists. I am using the section “Testing and Assessment” which includes Guidelines 13, 14, 15, 16, and 17 (APA Task Force, 2017) I found the fact that I am going to share under Guideline 15 which is “Psychologists strive to determine whether accommodations are appropriate for clients to yield a valid test score” (APA Task Force, 2017, Guideline 15).

Well lets see, “ how will I apply the tips I have learned in this week's assignment?” (unit 1 homework) There is a lot of tips and information in the paper I just read. It is all very good information and helpful, I know it will come in handy not only in this assignment but in all my work throughout this program. I learned the different ways people learn and think and how to work at being those kinds of thinkers and apply that to the papers I write. There is a lot of information out there, knowing where to look is very important and knowing how to incorporate your research is a must. Knowing your subject in and out and the proper way to do so is also important, to write a well informed paper. What I have read will help me with that also.
Do you believe that because Canada is a multicultural society that there is no racism? While the idea of inclusion and buried racism is what one might hope for, the realities of Canada’s national policy when experienced is quiet opposite than the messages expressed though text and other media outlets. Canada is suppose to be a multicultural society which includes all races and cultural backgrounds, everyone is suppose to be included and accepted in our group instead there are instances of discrimination and marginalization to certain racialized groups that have entered Canada the land that is promised to be of freedom and inclusion for all. Multiculturalism is a fundamental characteristic of the Canadian heritage and identity it is what fills our national center. (Harmony 2014). Multiculturalism has been a good policy designed to give people a great impression of our country yet: The Novels Indian Horse (2012) by Richard Wagamese and Obasan (1981) by Joy Kogawa portrays acts of violence, terror, exclusion and hardship. It is observed through reading and analysis that Racism is a never-ending struggle that people of minority backgrounds who immigrate to the land of the free have to endure. Finally, Racism stifles and affects everyone negatively who is an immigrant in the Canadian society; multiculturalism is only a façade which serves to cover up the root of the problem.
One principle that I believe to be an ethical principle of persuasion is “liking”. A concept in the book that helps support

English 101 is one of the most common college courses in the world. When I enrolled in the class, I was bothered that I would have spend forty hours in a freshman writing class; along with at least another forty hours throughout the semester writing for the class. What surprised me, was that when I began writing my essays I was not annoyed or bothered; I actually enjoyed the assignments. Most importantly, throughout the course of the semester, I have become a better writer and have ultimately met the course goals of English 101.
My biggest improvement in this English 111 class was my writing. Writing tasks that were assigned greatly strengthened my overall performance throughout the course, preparing me for the future classes. The environment made me feel at ease, helping me evolve as a student, and as a person. The environment made me feel at ease, preparing me for future classes. Another large achievement of mine that I displayed in the class, was my ability to talk comfortably with the other students. The variety of group activities we did allowed me to openly speak my opinion, leading to a better overall performance with my work and papers. The English 111 class enabled me to have better participation in and out of class and allowed

Persuasion is the force exerted to influence behavior that includes a reflected change in attitude. Everyday we are bombarded with messagesfrom people who wish to influence our behavior and attitudes. Persuasion canbe used to accomplish good as well as bad, though, in my paper I willrefrain from making value judgements and only report the factual aspects. I will discuss the two basic routes to persuasion, the elements involved, andways to protect current attitudes and behaviors from change. When trying to persuade someone, there are two different methods from which to choose-the central and peripheral routes. The central route persuades by usingdirect arguments and pertinent information. The peripheral route persuadespeople by association with incidental cues
The book, Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion by Robert B. Cialdini illustrates the implementation of reciprocation, commitment and consistency, social proof, liking, authority, and scarcity. The book identifies these six principles as weapons of influence in aiding with persuasion. The following explains and applies each principle.
The kind of information I will explore is the knowledge of a specific news or event derived from study, experience or instruction(Webster 1993). This type of information is not something everyone can have access to. This information can separate the successful companies from the one¹s struggling to survive. This information is valuable, and can be bought, sold traded and even stolen. It can be the most important asset a company owns.
