Over the years, drug trafficking has been a major issue in America as well as in nations all over the world. One of the biggest drug cartels is in Mexico and Columbia. They are the biggest providers for the United States and other countries. The governments are trying to crack down the drug systems, but it seems impossible because there are so many branches to get to head master that runs everything.
Mexico’s drug war is a complex situation that involves the police, military, and a range of government agencies facing competition from a number of gangs and cartels. The resulting ongoing high intensity crime and criminal uprisings are increasingly reported by social media such as Twitter and other blogs. Mexico, a major drug producing and transit country, is the main foreign supplier of marijuana and also a major supplier of methamphetamine to the United States. The government’s principal goal has been to put down the drug-related violence that was uncontrolled between different drug cartels before any military interference was made. Although Mexico accounts for only a small share of the worldwide heroin production, it supplies a large share of heroin consumed in the United States. An estimated 90% of cocaine entering the United States are imported from Mexico. Violence in the border region has affected U.S. citizens. More than 60 Americans have been kidnaped in Nuevo Laredo. In July 2007, Mexican drug cartels reportedly threatened to kill a U.S. journalist covering drug violence in the border region.

Marijuana/ Cannabis
Marijuana is a green and brown mix of dried flowers, stems, seeds and leaves from the hemp plant Cannabis sativa. The main active chemical is THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), which moves quickly through the bloodstream to the brain and other organs throughout the body. In 2012, marijuana was noted by the National Institute on Drug Abuse as being the most widely used illicit drug in the U.S. Globally, between 129 and 191 million people aged 15 to 64 used marijuana at least one time in 2008, or 2.9 to 3.4 percent of the world's population. In North America, 29.5 million people used marijuana at least once in 2008. The minority that uses Marijuana the most are Hispanics and African American.
