DRIVING FASTER CAN CAUSE DISASTER.

It was the Health and Safety Environment Day of 2014,when my father taught me a valuable lesson: “Never drive faster than your guardian angel can fly”. He also added:“There’s no hurry anywhere else except in your mind. Driving fast may look like fun, but it may cost your life”.

No body can deny that going fast in cars is fun. But who hasn’t experienced the feeling of excitement rush into the veins when the wheels start running fast and things almost get out of control?.And who hasn’t gone through the grief of losing an endeared one due to fast driving, or even the grief caused by hearing such dread stories?
As a matter of fact, over-speeding may seem pretty exciting and appealing , its consequences could really be tragic.

OVER SPEEDING
Over-speeding is an habitual driver behavior. It’s the third leading contributing factor to traffic crashes. Even though fatalities due to other dangerous behaviors, such as driving while impaired; not wearing seatbelts, have been significantly reduced, over-speeding is still a challenge.

There are many reasons why people drive at high-speeds:
(i)They are in a hurry.(ii)They are inattentive to their driving.(iii)They don’t take traffic laws seriously, they don’t think the laws apply to them.(iv)they don’t expect to get caught.(v)They don’t view their driving behavior as dangerous.(vi)Some or all of the above.

Over-speeding may get you there faster, or it may keep you from getting there at all. People must be taught that their limbs and lives are very valuable and they must not take risk while driving.

Accidents are avoidable, all it takes is to be aware of your surroundings. ’Pay attention to what you are doing’. At some point, one small mistake in judgment can cause death to another person that God has put into this world.

The only reason that driving is necessary is to make our lives much more better and simpler. Driving is a task that requires ‘concentration’ and when that is disturbed ,the possibility for disaster is formed and this can happen by driving at higher speeds.

If everything comes in your way, take off your right foot. Use the roads carefully and we may be able to use them for a longer time. Use them carelessly and we may never be able to use them again. We should all take a pledge to drive safe and never to exceed the prescribed speed limits. Start Early, Drive Slowly and Reach Safely, must be the dictum to follow.

Weaving, tailgating, distracted drivers, and unsafe lane changes were some of the unsafe behaviors identified. Aggressive drivers are more likely to drink and drive or drive unbelted. Aggressive driving can easily escalate into an incident of road rage. Motorists in all 50 states have killed or injured other motorists for seemingly trivial reasons. Motorists should keep their cool in traffic, be patient and courteous to other drivers, and correct unsafe driving habits that are likely to endanger, antagonize or provoke other motorists. More than half of those surveyed by NHTSA admitted to driving aggressively on occasion. Only 14 percent felt it was "extremely dangerous" to drive 10 miles per hour over the speed limit. 62 percent of those who frequently drive in an unsafe and illegal manner said police for traffic reasons had not stopped them in the past year. The majority of those in the NHTSA survey (52 percent) said it was "very important" to do something about speeding. Ninety-eight percent of respondents thought it "important" that something be done to reduce speeding and unsafe driving.
