Saturday is the night for boxing, February 24th was no different. In the first fight of the night, IBF flyweight champion, Donnie Nietes (41-1-4 23 KO's) would clash with the Argentine Juan Carlos Reveco (39-4, 19 KO's). Reveco would start slow in the fight trying to find his shot. It was almost as if he was scared he'd get countered by Nietes, or just was afraid to miss. Not only was Reveco not throwing, but Nietes was landing his shots. On my scorecard, Nietes had a 2-0 advantage. Going into the third round the crowd was not entertained, boos heard throughout the crowd. Reveco turned it up a bit, found himself winning the third round on my card. He was successful with his left hook throughout the third, especially to the body. The crowd would get into it, thinking the tide may turn. Reveco made the fight entertaining in that round. Nietes attempted to put on a master class, the professor was successful. Rounds four through six, Nietes would hit and not move much. His movements were so small, subtle, perfect in technique. Putting on a display of masterful footwork. Come in six inches, Nietes will move back eight. No longer hitting at will, Nietes was not getting hit though. At this point in the fight, have it 5-1 Nietes. …show more content…
At the end of the six round, right at the bell, Nietes seemed to land something that left Reveco stunned.
On replay, Nietes appeared to land a solid right hand. Reveco would stumble over to his corner from the punch. Reveco and his corner would argue the punch was illegal, landed after the bell. The official was not having it and both fighters would come out for the seventh. With seemingly no legs under him, Reveco would try to run away from Nietes. While trying to get his legs under him, Nietes hits him with four punches to the body, shot to the head, down goes Reveco. At eight, Reveco returned to his feets. "Walk to me" uttered the official, to no movement by, Reveco. With 53 seconds into the round, fight was
ended. Nietes, getting up in age, is not regressing much. The veteran has not lost a fight in a little over thirteen years. Don't see him hanging it up anytime soon, love watching him fight. Fight stats: Nietes: Total: 100/407 25% Power: 77/258 30% Reveco: Total: 40/318 13% Power: 36/195 18%
Johnson was rapidly growing in both fame and success within the boxing industry and taking over something that Jim Jeffries had secured in almost all areas in the years prior. As a great majority of the white population was growing agitated at Johnson’s success, it became clear that they wanted to have some sort of match or occurrence that could once again put them on top in the world of boxing and sports entirely. Jim Jeffries was already retired from the sport but that certainly did not stop the white population from pressing just one more matchup to try and regain what they had once held to be so important to their race and superiority complex in sports on a regular basis. With this being said, it was also equally as likely that many within the black population wanted this match to occur just as badly as the whites when it came down to it because if anyone was going to put them on top it was sure to be that of Jack Johnson (A Question of Racial Supremacy,

Until one day he had saw the mysterious running boy and he was fed up with being picked on and decided to fight back, so he punched the main bully as hard as he could in the face. He was scared that Dana, the main bully would fight back so he ran off and started chasing the mysterious running boy. During the movie, Frankie was training Willy one of the best fighters in the world at the time but was not risking putting Willy into the world championship fight. Due to this Willy left, which caused Frankie a lot of pain and he agreed to take on Maggie for that redemption of losing Willy. Eddie redeemed himself when he managed to knock out Shawrelle, a younger fighter that was practicing in the ring. Furthermore, Eddie was the narrator of the movie describing himself in the process and what he went through (Orr, 2005). The second theme is second chances that get everyone where they want to be even if the end does not work out, it’s the process of getting there. Frankie got a second chance to improve someone and take her to the world championships against a girl that played very dirty in the ring. He stood by her side every chance he got and showed her how to be a true fighter and the best. With his own problems that were happening with his daughter and her returning his letters back to him unopened he saw his second chance in Maggie. Moreover, fighting was Maggie’s second chance, since she has had a rough childhood with her father dying at such a young age and her mother being very ungrateful. Maggie was determined to become the best and she almost had her shot at being the best. Everyone in life deserves a second chance whether they chose to use it in a positive or negative way that is up to
After meeting Hoppie and watching him defeat the giant Jackhammer Smit, however, Peekay learns a mantra that will change his life forever: “Fight first with the head, then with the heart” (103). Peekay remembers Hoppie’s slogan for the rest of his life, and applies it not only to boxing, but also to his life; by doing so, he avenges his miserable childhood at the hands of the Judge.
Billy Jack Haynes Vs Hercules. Actually rather fun for what it was, and I enjoyed the storyline behind it. Both look roided up|Though I could be wrong, but I doubt it| But it was still an interesting contest of power. Double count out ensures, with Hercules bloodying up Billy Jack at the end of the match, with his steel chain.
So, I got ready for my next match, which was against Jeff Petro from Wray, CO. As we warmed up in the same corner, I looked at him with some fear to tell you the truth. This guy was ripped, ...
The newspapers, the streets, billboards, people even got posters and t-shirts of my husband, Jim Braddock the heavyweight champion! Oh how life life is going be now. I'm so excited for him, for our family, for us. The kids don’t have to be hungry anymore. We have money we have food, and we also have a new pet for the kids. They are so excited, probably even more than their dad is. I so happy he made it out alive. Oh good god I was so nervous for him. I can't wait until he comes back from his next fight tonight. It's going to start real soon. I hate watching him fight so I'll just have my friends tell me what happened when it's over. I heard the guy he's fighting is new so no one knows how good he really is. Hopefully he's new enough that it won't last long until he's
The Godfather is the “dark-side of the American dream story” (Turan, pp2). The film follows the practices of a fictional Italian mafia family, the Corleone’s. Though most Americans do not condone the practices of the Italian mafia, they cannot deny that Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather is a cinematic masterpiece. This film gave insight to a mysterious way of life that the average person does not have knowledge of. As the audience is educated about the mafia they also are introduced to many stereotypes.

It began to drain our energy and flood our minds with frustration from the referee’s terrible decisions. The frustration mentally affected our positivity and dampened our performance. I could hear groans and moans from members in our team sounding like dying screams of wounded war heroes. My muscles were in agonising pain from fighting for possession and constant sprinting, putting my body on the line. I needed to surrender but couldn’t give up. I needed to continue the second half and inspire the team by helping us to gain victory. After a few strong words from the leader, we started the second half of the battle on top form. Using our young beginners to tire out the opposition, we had the advantage of more troops. It was finally our time to make the final play of the battle count, to overrule Albany and claim the
True friends won’t grow apart even when they don’t talk every day. “Says the artist Drake this means that the real friends who, although not everyday they speak , always go to be together they never separate. Four one thousand, five one thousand. My bones start to crack. I suddenly realized that I have been hit, and hit hard. I’m now lying on the ground thinking to myself “What happened?” I taste a thick substance and quickly realize that my lip was bleeding. Now I’m in so much pain, my bones ache as I start to get a headache. I hear a whistle and see my opponent standing over me. His sweat starts to drop down from his face to mine. I’m thinking to myself “What went wrong”? I feel the mud on my hands as I slowly start to come back to the rest of the world. I hear the crowd roar. What is going on? Who has won the game? Is it over? I turn my head a little to the left to see the scoreboard. They’ve won by one, and we’ve lost.
