A dog is often times referred to as “Man’s Best Friend.” Many people have dogs and enjoy spending time with them. Dogs may be friendly and tame but may also be ferocious and dangerous. Because of these contrasting potential behaviors, along with others, I believe that workplaces should not allow employees to bring their dogs to work. Dogs should not be allowed in the workplace because they might potentially cause distress and be harmful to some employees. Many people are afraid of dogs. Even the most calm, harmless-seeming dogs have the potential to bite somebody or otherwise misbehave. As mentioned by Response #2, while at work, dogs would need to be played with and taken outside. Pet owners would be very distracted by caring for their pets and would be less productive and need to take more breaks. With all sides of the argument considered I believe that dogs should not be allowed in the workplace. Dogs are unsanitary and many people are afraid of them. They may cause distractions and ultimately do more harm than good. Furthermore, when the dogs were at work with their owners, they would likely have no place to be kept and if they did it would likely be unsanitary. When their owner went to the restroom, to get food, or talk to a coworker, the dogs would be tied up, left alone, or taken with, all options of which do not sound very appealing. In conclusion, although allowing dogs in the workplace may be beneficial for some workers, it would likely not be beneficial for all and therefore should not be
