Rafael Cruz once stated, “Only in America can someone start with nothing and achieve the American Dream. That’s the greatness of this country”. America is a country full of opportunities, therefore, people around the world migrate to the United States to achieve the American Dream. The American Dream is a desire to become a good successful person in America. The American Dream still endures because every person with little money in their pockets has the capability to make a living and be able to increase their earnings. Secondly, people can come into the United States to follow a dream that their countries do not provide. One example would be Jeanette Walls ,an author and columnist. She didn't had the ideal upbringing that every child should have. For example, she, her 3 siblings and her parents lived in extreme poverty. They moved from house to house to escape the trouble that her alcoholic dad caused. They even lived in a house where they had no plumbing, good insolation and was infested with rats. When she was 17 she moved to new york with her sister were she graduated high school and college with honors. She then wrote “The Glass Castle” that sold over 2.7 million copies. Jeannette’s live shows that even when people don’t have money and good parents, people still have opportunity to become successful in the United States.
