Do the Navy Core Values affect you as a future citizen? In short, the answer is yes. The values are Honor, Courage, and Commitment. These characteristics are vital in being an informed and responsible citizen. What is a citizen? *A citizen is a legally recognized subject or national of a state or commonwealth, either native or naturalized. What makes a “good” citizen? *Good citizenship means to conduct oneself in accordance with the rights, duties, and privileges of being an inhabitant of a geographical location by means of birth or naturalization. The Navy Core Values affect one as a good citizen in many ways. First, the Navy core value of honor is important as a citizen. *Honor is to be honest and truthful in our dealings with each other and with those outside the Navy. Fulfill or exceed our legal and ethical responsibilities in our public and personal lives. It is important as a citizen to be honest and truthful. It also teaches respect, patriotism, etcetera.
