During the days of the 80’s a time where everything was the most influential there was a horrible and scary disease going around that nobody even knew existed. This disease would weaken your immune system which made you vulnerable to any sickness and eventually would kill you. This disease was Aids.
Discovery of Aids
Aids was actually discovered 1981. America was the first country to realize a new illness that was found among gay men. The cause of aids was said to be originated from Africa and was caused by a chimpanzee in West Africa that carried this disease. Scientists who study Aids believe that Aids carried into humans when humans would hunt these animals for meat and came in contact with their infected blood. Therefore, spreading Aids all throughout Africa and spreading further into the world. However, there is another version to how this started. USA was actually the first country to bring aids out into the public. This disease was later known as HIV which stands for Human Immunodeficiency Virus and has no cure. …show more content…

Mercury, was tested for Aids in 1986 and was diagnosed with aids in 1987, but when the press had found out that he was tested Freddie Mercury told them that he was tested negatively for HIV. From there Freddie Mercury and his close friends continued to deny that he had HIV even when reporters continued to question it. Towards the end of his life Mercury started showing signs of his HIV, he was losing his sight and his deterioration was so overpowering that he couldn’t even leave his bed. So Mercury decided to try and speed up his death by not taking his medication and only taking pain killers.
