Air pollution is one of the most dangerous substances to our environment, causing damage to the atmosphere, human and animal health, and air quality. Recently, there has been an increase in death rates resulting from diseases caused by air pollution, such as asthma, respiratory problems, and lung cancer (National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences). As a result, air pollution not only affects human life but also damages our ecological system as a whole, including plants and animals. Air pollution is a gas, liquid, or solid dispersed through ordinary air, released in a large enough quantity to harm the health of people or other animals, kill plants, or disrupt any other aspect of the environment, such as making buildings crumble or causing some other kind of nuisance that can reduce visibility or produce an unpleasant odor (Chris Woodford). According to an article published by the Sacramento Bee, Fresno and other cities in the Central Valley are also suffering from geographical disadvantages, with tons of tiny particle pollution produced on the coast and carried inland by prevailing winds.
