Diversity: Equality One major thing everyone of a minority wants in this world is equality, but their idea of equality is not the same as some other people’s. Most people of a minority want equality in the means of being treated the same as someone from a majority, others think of equality in the sense of everything about a person being the exact same as everyone else. Equality should not be based on everyone being the same in every way possible but instead it should be established where everyone is being treated the same, like said in “Disability and Social Equality: The Centrality of Independent Living” when Sandra Carpenter states “whether limitation and disability becomes a source of inequality depends not on the disability, but the extent …show more content…

No one feels like they are better than everyone, and some people feel like they are not better than anyone. In a society where the people are like that, there can never be total equality. Total equality would call for no one in the world to hold judgement out on even one single person, which is near impossible. For there to be no judgement against others, there would have to be no judgement against one person’s own self. To ensure total equality, there would have to be at least one person or a group of superficial personnel that would oversee the acts of everyone, making the world, once again, unable to achieve equality. This is shown well through the short story Harrison Bergeron when the Handicapper General had the right to enforce laws for all citizens and could punish the ones who broke the rules. She was higher and unequal to everyone else by having the right to do these things. The world is too diverse and too established to be changed. Everyone has a different opinion on equality, and a different definition of what equality even is. To have “equality”, the world would have to go off every single person’s idea of equality and try to please everyone. Trying to make over 7 billion individuals agree on one idea of equality would be like trying to get everyone to have the same favorite food. The world and people are diverse, in almost aspect of life. People have different body types, different facial structures, different ways of thinking, and different ways of behaving. Everyone should be equal in the mindset of morality, but not in all aspects of life. People should be better when they can be, and except when the fact that they cannot always be the better
