During this assignment, I needed to observe infant/toddler from birth to 36 months. The observation was for 30 minutes while the infants interact with the world. While the observation, I created a running record observation to keep track of the developmental domains. The observation took place in the ECE classroom. There were three children which were Charlotte, Loui, and Benjamin. They were placed in the center of the class where there was different kinds of toys. During the observation, Charlotte and Loui were interacting with one another. However, Benjamin wasn’t interacting at all. Loui interacted with classmates and went outside the circle to get some toys.

The functional behavior assessment is typically a group approach that is created within the student's individual education plan team. Team members can consist of teachers, counselors, and behavior analysts. This team will work together to collect and analyze data and then form the behavior intervention plan.
During my time observing in the special education room I got to see a read aloud where the teacher attempted to get all the students engaged in the lesson, to the best of their ability. The teacher would ask questions after reading each page, and had the students turn the page and make connections to the text. There were four students in the classroom at the time, and they were corrected if any errors were made during the reading, and they were encouraged to participate (to the best of their abilities.)

By teaching these parents how to redirect their child’s behavior and provide schedules of reinforcement, the families became reunified and children remained at home. Observation is important as the practitioner can find out what the child is interested in and what motivates them to learn alongside their progress and how they behave in certain situations, additionally at the same time it identifies if children need assistance within certain areas of learning or socially (DCSF, 2008). Furthermore the observations check that the child is safe, contented, healthy and developing normally within the classroom or early years setting, over time the observations can be given to parents as they show a record of progress which helps to settle the parent and feel more comfortable about their child’s education. Observations are not only constructive within learning about an individual child, they can be used to see how different groups of children behave in the same situation and how adults communicate and deal with children’s behaviour (Meggitt and Walker, 2004). Direct experience is more influence than the indirect experiences came/coming from results to others. This unexpected difference could have a clear and sensible basis. Or it could be based on behavioural natural desires in agreement/peace with the (done or used by many people) availability. Direct experiences have a stronger and more consistent effect on different measures of beliefs. Direct experiences also boost response while indirect experiences do not.

Aside from observing this child for an hour, I gathered the information from the mother, father, and the siblings of this child. Her mother enlightened me with some background information. Her father told me how close he is with her. Lastly, her siblings described the way she is at home and how they treat and play with each other. During my observation, I was focusing on the child’s behavior and recognizing the development of this child through his/her actions.
Through classroom observation I was exposed to the different methods of teaching a lesson. The methods of teaching depends on how will the teacher execute the lesson well. I learned that modern learners today needs both modern and traditional way of teaching as for them to fully learned the lesson in a meaningful way.
