Our world has suffered many losses from war. Wars has changed the world and the people in it. In the novel ¨The Hunger Games¨, Suzanne Collins created a story about the United States post war, showing what our world could turn out to be after a major war. Even though this story can be interpreted as entertainment, the novel is to inform the audience, and the movie is to entertain.

Suzanne Collins made her novel ¨The Hunger Games¨ to inform the reader of what war can do, and just how powerful the government is. ¨He lists disasters, the droughts, the storms, the fires, the encroaching seas that swallowed up so much of the land, the brutal war for what little sustenance remained¨ (pg 18). After war, there was not much left, so a group of people created Panem. Panem is the United States after a crazy civil war. The capital is the government of Panem. President Snow has the most power and control over anyone. Snow has so much power that he was able to create the Hunger Games. In the book, it mentions that district 13 fights back against the capital, causing the district to be completely wiped out. The capital was so mad, they created the Hunger Games to show the people how powerful they are and the consequences of …show more content…

The director's purpose of the movie was to entertain. One of the biggest changes was that the book was in Katniss´s perspective, but the movie was not. The movie shows parts of what the gamemakers are doing, and things happening outside of Katniss. It was done like this to give the audience more information and more idea about what was going to happen next. It also lets them surprise the the audience by telling them one thing, then surprising them with something else. In both the book and the movie, Katniss and a little girl named Rue from district 11 gain a strong friendship. This gives the audience a little heart warmth and something to hope for in such a gruesome and action packed
