Disasters are things that happen all the time. But most of them are so big people believe that they have to be part of history. Take the Titanic disaster for example that was so big but still some people still lived through it through perseverance and overcoming challenges to live through the disaster. But risking their lives to survive they have some effects on their lives after surviving, for example injured parts of their body. After the disaster, the people who survive it will most certainly have effects put on there life. They survived because they persevered and overcame challenges to survive. In the titanic disaster Jack Thayer survived because of multiple things. One he had Milton Long to help him, two he jumped into the cold and freezing water by himself as the suction from the ship was sinking him down into the water, and lastly he stayed on top of a upside down lifeboat for a hour in the freezing cold weather and water to survive the Titanic. Thousands of people have experienced an earthquake at one point in their life. An earthquake can be a type of stressor. This type of stressor is called a cataclysmic event. These events are “strong stressors that occur suddenly and typically affect many people simultaneously” (Feldman, 2010). Though some might think all kinds of stress lingers, but in these cases they usually don’t. In most cases it causes relief because people would believe that the worst has already happened and so they go on with their day with possibly even less stress. For example if I so happened to be shopping at the mall while my mom was at work and suddenly I felt a strong earthquake, I would begin to stress about the fact that my mom works in a large building nearby. Then I would do anything I can to get in contact with her to find out if she is well and unharmed. Then I would feel relieved to know that she is fine.
The Japan disaster was devastating, and it had an abundance of causes and effects. The nuclear disaster, the tsunami, and the earthquake were the causes of the disaster in Japan. In addition, the disaster had countless effects on the land and people in Japan. The disaster in Japan was as devastating and tragic as 9/11. Both events took a great number of lives and left their country shocked, but prepared them for anything similar that might happen in the future.
