Even though the Nazis were captured, Jews had already been taken to concentration camps leading about six million of them being killed. In the play, The Diary of Anne Frank, dialogue is shown by setting the mood of scenes, shows conflict and action moving the plot forward, and demonstrating what the characters are like. In The Diary of Anne Frank, dialogue is shown by setting the mood. Page 118 states, “Quack! You are the most intolerable, insufferable boy I’ve ever met.” This reveals Anne a Peter’s kid like, childish tension between them. They tease and make fun of each other. To end that, their relationship starts progressively changing. Additionally, the play states, “For a second Anne stands looking up at Peter longing for him to kiss her. As he makes no move she turns away. Then suddenly Peter grabs her awkwardly in his arms, kissing her on her cheek.” This shows Anne and Peter's later relationship. That’s all I hear from everyone… how wonderful Margot is…Why aren't you like Margot?” Anne starts to rebel also creating more tension for everyone. She causes problems, but everything works out later. This shows her personality progressing to change as time passes by.
