Descriptive Writing About Band Camp

For some people, Band Camp is amazing and it’s a wonderful experience that you can always look back on. But for me, Band Camp was a complete disaster. From the first day there to the last, I dreaded the whole thing. I don’t remember what day it was, but I do remember going to Band Camp early summer in 2016. I had just finished 6th grade. I was so excited for Band Camp. Everyone made it sound like so much fun. My aunt decided to take me because everyone else was busy. When we arrived, there were a lot of people in line. The line was almost going outside. There were two dorm buildings, one for girls and one for guys. I obviously went over to the girls one. My aunt and I got me signed in and I went a t-shirt, which I still have. We brought all my stuff up to my room and got everything set up. The first night went smoothly. We went over all the rules that night and I went to bed at 10:30. First night over with.

I hated Band Camp. I know hate is a strong word but Band Camp was awful. I went home feeling happy that it was over but also disappointed because everything that I had heard about Band Camp was false. It wasn’t amazing. It wasn’t an amazing opportunity. It was dreadful. I’m pretty sure I was the only one who thought that though. I was so happy to finally get a good night’s sleep when I got home that day.
So, Band Camp did change me, or well, it changed my opinion on activities. I don’t like to get involved with public activities or school activities much anymore. I go outside less. I sit down more. But even though it changed me, I’m still pretty much the same person. If I learned anything from Band Camp, it would be to be more careful with your options.
