Three Words That Describe Me As A Writer I really enjoy writing. I believe writing can be important in expressing yourself. How you write can also give an insight to who you are as a person. As a writer, I would describe myself as hesitant, emotional, and embarrassed. Even though I enjoy writing I am still hesitant to write. It is sometimes hard for me to get started because I am unsure of what to write or how it should be written. I enjoy rules and a correct or wrong way to do things. This does not necessarily occur in writing and I believe this is the reason I am often hesitant to write. As much as I would like to not be, I am a very emotional person. Writing…. writing for me is a never-ending struggle to perfect the English language, dialect, sentence structure and any other way I can possibly butcher my native tongue on paper. With so many ways to put ideas on paper, the English language is one of the most free-spirited yet, hardest languages to write. I look at myself as a writer of raw talent, one that needs to be harness to achieve great ideas.
In this paper, I am to write about my strengths and weaknesses in writing. This is not an easy task for me because I have never considered myself a writer. Reading other peoples thoughts are activities that are more my speed. I simply have trouble putting my thoughts into writing. Since, I do not feel that I have many strengths, let's move on to my weaknesses.
Writers have to be clear, when explaining what they do for a living to other people. Who think being a writer means waking up around noon, sitting at home and looking at a computer screen and typing away. Like being a writer is easy. As a novice writer, I would stay up past midnight thinking how I could explain countless scene without confusing the reader or myself, reading the short story. Explaining what a writer does is simple well for me. I write in the most comfortable place and try to plan the perfect plot line. Even if it takes hours and hours or until I scream out in frustrated.
My overall writing skills are decent; there is an allowance for improvement. From an early age, I was required to write summarized essays. As children and young adults, my brother and I read an article from the newspaper daily and were required to give a brief report on what we read, and on occasion, it was in written form. Therefore, my critical thinking and writing skills are refined. I was exposed to the APA style of writing in my undergraduate and master degree courses. At times, I still must refer to my manual, although I still consider writing in APA style a strength.
I love writing, especially writing about my thoughts and ideas. It helps me a lot to focus on my goals to achieve them. Besides that, writing ideas down is important for me because some ideas come and go fast; therefore, I like to write it down before it disappeared. When I write my feelings, I understand my self better. I like to write whenever I want to or I have an idea to write which is usually before going to sleep. I write my thoughts most of the time in a diary book and sometimes in my phone. My room is the best place for me to write because I prefer to write in a quiet places to gather my thoughts and focus on them.
Hello, I am Deepti (pronounced as Dip-Dee) I am 18 years old just graduated high school in may of last year. This is my first year at RMCAD I am earning a Bachelors in Illustration. With this degree I plan to become an art teacher, in the future, after a while of teaching, I really hope that I can make it to the point where I can live by selling my artwork. The process of examining me as a writer is not easy. Writing, for me, has never been an easy task. Many times I sat for hours contemplating my blank piece of paper just trying to figure out how to begin to write the creative writing assignment due in a few days for my high school English class. I knew that learning to write well took patience and practice, much like learning any other skill. I remember the long hard hours I spent developing my skills as a skateboarder. I knew that I had to find the same attitude to develop my writing skills. I knew also that I wanted to continue my education and pursue a law degree. Definitely my writing skills had to be developed.
Sherman Alexie once said “I’m a good writer who may be a great writer one day.” This quote is an excellent explanation about how I feel toward my own writing. Reading and writing has always been a part of school that I have enjoyed since I first learned how to. Usually, I enjoy reading to a further extent than writing; in spite of this, only under certain circumstances, do I enjoy reading. If a teacher were to assign a book to read for a class, I would find it difficult to read and appreciate, because I did not find or choose the book myself. Writing, on the other hand, has never been a favorite of mine; although, I would consider myself to be a fairly strong writer. I would easily choose reading over writing.
Writing for me has always been a love and hate relationship since I could remember. Depending on the subject matter that I was writing about I would enjoy it because it suited my style or I loathed it because that specific style was uninteresting and boring to me. Learning certain writing formats were absolutely the worst part about writing when I first started learning in high school. As time pushed on and I grew older I began to develop an appreciation for writing that I did not have before; which is what led me to taking Writing 101 as my first full-fledged college course. I began this course with minimal writing experience because of what I failed to retain before, but now I am a stronger writer than I could have imagined with new skill sets that enhance my professional portfolio.

When I began to write, I fund the writing process a really slow, time consuming, and difficult task. First, because I wasn't writing in my first language and I was learning how to conjugate words and use a more advance vocabulary. Second, I didn't like to write, writing essays about something that was not interesting for me was really distracting and difficult to achieve. If my life were in the hands of my writing skills, I would be death long time. Even though, it was tough for me, I always tried to do my best.
I am not, by any means, a Shakespeare, Stephen King, or John Grisham. It would take enormous amounts of time, practice, and effort to be considered a long shot at a Pulitzer Prize. Yet, I intend to progress my writing by setting more achievable goals, building on new ideas, and developing new skills. Also, I will use the advice of instructors and peers, and draw from previous writing experiences to mold this and future writing experiences.
Writing can be a very personal form of communication. I believe writing is a very interesting and enjoyable skill to have for the future. When I think of my relationship with writing, I realize that I enjoy writing, but I have a hard time being thoughtful/deep in my topics and writing based on experiences I have had. However, being able to be a stronger and more confident writer is something I am interested in.
I don’t consider myself a very good writer. I write when I am made to or when I have something that I need to say that I can’t just tell someone. I keep a diary. Usually my diary is just a record of what I have done that day. It’s not so much about my feelings. I don’t really like talking about my feelings, usually because most of the time I am confused about what exactly I am feeling. I tend to keep the feelings that I do have to myself, to protect myself from getting hurt.
I always used to ask myself: who am I? My brain would give me dozens and dozens of answers but never a definite one, until I figured out that I am a little bit of everything. I am the the typical girl who pays attention to the latest fashion trends and likes to try out the newest baking ideas. But I am also that girl who is more likely to cry over a character in a novel dying than when put in hard situations. I believe that books give me the strength needed to deal with difficult situations in life. They open worlds within worlds through their small windows and nourish me with unlimited knowledge about miscellaneous cultures, traditions and different life scenarios. I also find writing a way to express myself; therefore I have been writing short stories for as long as I can remember.
