Love is something familiar to everyone. No matter what a person believes, love is something that is preached all over the world. People all define love differently because of this fact. They have different ideas of what love really is. Love is unselfish, unique, and rare. The idea of love itself is almost indescribable.
True love is the most unselfish thing on this earth. “True love is an act of will – a conscious decision to do what is best for the other person instead of ourselves.” – Billy Graham. It is not giving until it is impossible to give anymore, nor is it taking until there is nothing left to take. Love never takes without giving in return. It gives without expecting anything in return.
Love is something that is truly unique. Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice at injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. People, no matter their beliefs, preach love, which means we should have more of it right? There is the idea of this great thing everyone would like to experience, but so many people do not. Love is discussed so much, but people are not loving, and therefore it is rare. What is the point of people talking about loving one another if they are not going to do it? Why love if a person is incapable of doing so wholeheartedly? If everyone shared this wonderful thing they have been given to them a bit more, the world would be a much better place. Part of the reason they do not love like they should is that people do not believe they deserve love. “We accept the love we think we deserve,” (Chbosky, 2002). When this is the mindset, love becomes limited. If people choose not to believe that this idea of something so amazing is not a thing they deserve, then it cannot be properly
