Happiness in today’s society seems to be measured by material wealth. Most people believe that in order to be happy, you need money. However, happiness isn't something that can be bought. But how can one really know if they are happy? If someone is unhappy, what can they do to achieve happiness? True happiness is the feeling of complete and utter joy, and it comes in all different shapes, sizes, and forms and can be achieved in so many ways.

Buying lots of popular, expensive, nice things may seem like a good way to make yourself happy, but at the end of the day it’s all just materials. A brand new phone, nice car, a big pool, or a giant mansion do not equate to joyful feelings. People use these materials as status symbols,

The feeling of completing a goal is amazing. People need to have a sense of purpose.Without a purpose, one feels as though they are lost. But those that have a sense of purpose in their life often have feelings of satisfaction about themselves. They sense they were put on this planet for a reason. To each person, this purpose can be different. Maybe they were meant to teach. Maybe they were meant to mother. Maybe they were meant to learn. Goals can be anywhere from small to gigantic, like taking a run alone, getting a job, doing well in school or even creating a business. Having goals and success in life, can make people feel happy.

Being around happy people can make their emotional state infectious. Being around people who love you and care for you is a great way to achieve a happy life. Finding the humor in situations can also lead to happiness. It’s always good to have a good laugh every once in awhile.
