The Merriam Webster dictionary defines strong as striking or superior of its kind. It also defines woman as an adult female person. Strong woman in this context would mean that she is an adult female person who is striking or superior in kind. I agree with the definition, but I would like to add my own opinion and experiences to that. A strong woman in my opinion is someone who knows who she is, stands up for herself, she is happy, she challenges herself, and admits she doesn’t have all the answers. She holds characteristics like loyalty and trustworthy. She is a leader, supporter, and guider. She is bright, bold, beautiful, and loveable. She holds joy, love, peace, and happiness. Having a child at an early age afforded me the opportunity to become a very strong and independent woman. I’m not afraid to break a sweat or go the extra mile to achieve my goals. I am very loyal to my goals and my future. As the guider and supporter I am there for my family and friends when they need me. I am the backbone of my little family. I have to take in consideration my son’s future and lead him in the right direction. I am a superior example for him. I know that he is looking up to me. I have gone through what many people would call hardships or negative things and turned them into positive outcomes. Many may look at having a child at a young age as a setback but I look at is as a experience that made me into the strong woman I am today. I am very self-aware and continually growing into my true self. I am currently cultivating my own interests. One side of the discussion argues that women must be shown as equal to men and therefore display manly or ‘macho’ traits. These situations have taught me more than I would have thought as a child. Even with the absence of a father for virtually all of my life, I would be confident in my abilities to provide everything I could to my children. I learned that in life there are responsibilities. I truly believe that had I not had a child at an early age, I would still be a wild absentminded party girl and who knows what else may have happened.
Motherhood has taught me many life lessons. Before becoming a mother, I was a self centered child. I had no motivation to succeed. All I was worried about was where the next party was. At that time I had no want to try because I was so scared to fail. I was slowly progressing to go nowhere and do nothing with my life. That has all changed now. I no longer party or use drugs. I work full time, attend college full time and devote my all to my children. Without them I would probably be in a jail cell not where I am today.
There are by far many things that make up a strong woman, at least in the eyes of many. Being independent, fighting for what is right, and standing your ground and being feisty when needed is just a few qualities that make a woman strong. But underneath that heardened exterior, or mask, of fake emotion there is always a woman dying to be loved and cared for. Woman do not like to be controlled by no means but life is not always fair and they find a way to deal with it, or better yet, they find a way around it.
A woman can have many different traits and still be feminine. It is impossible to put femininity in a box because there are no real qualities for what it means to be a female. Women can be nurturing and caring, however they can also be strong, courageous, and powerful.

Becoming a mother has been the best part of my life. I became a mother at a very young age. I had no idea what to expect and was not in the least prepared for the journey that lie ahead. I have truly embraced motherhood and enjoy all the wonderful things it has taught me. While living through motherhood, I have found that it can teach you the most valuable lessons there are to learn. Being a mother has taught me how to have patience. I have also learned that being a mother takes a lot on mental and physical strength. My children have been the best to teach me how to juggle many tasks at once. They have made me strong. Even through some unexpected turns, I have learned how to get through hard times and really learn what it means to never give up. My children are my biggest blessing, and I hope they will learn valuable lessons through me. The skills I have learned from being a mother have helped me in my college journey.
I still can’t get over the fact I am a mother it’s not an easy job to do. I have had my fair share of struggles emotionally and physically. I worked dead end jobs and it just wasn’t enough to get by we couldn’t live. This is what gave me that push to go and get my nursing assistant certification it was a stable way to live. I had to put school on hold because I had to work and to raise him at the same time. It gets tough sometimes and I just want to scream because I never knew what my son would do next. Even though it gets stressful and there is a lot of the unknown I wouldn’t change it for the world.
