The Netherlands vs. Deerania The Kingdom of the Netherlands and Deerania have many similarities as well as differences between each other. For instance, Deerania is a lot bigger, but they are both quite dense-although The Netherlands is even denser because of its small size compared to its large population. Since the Netherlands is so dense, there are even three times as many bikes as there is as cars (to keep road traffic down)! They also use boats to get to work and travel. Deerania also uses boats as common traffic.
The main difference between The Netherlands and Deerania are the changes in geography and climate, which is mainly affected by where the country is located. Deerania is near the equator, at 28°N, while The Netherlands is way
Athena, the Greek goddess of both wisdom and war, is often considered the craftiest of all Olympian gods. She was born of a headache, and erupted from Zeus’ head fully armed and ready for battle. However, beside all this pomp, she is a rather caring, if war-loving, immortal. Throughout the entirety of The Odyssey she conveys an entirely platonic, almost motherly love for Odysseus. It is this that makes her significant character in Homer’s work. In The Odyssey, Athena is portrayed as a, if not the, major female figure throughout the entire epic poem. With her affection for Odysseus and her frequent appearances she plays a major role throughout the entire poem. Evidence of this integral role will be presented as proof of her importance to the story.
Egypt and Mesopotamia; two different civilizations that were similar in some ways, as well as different. They had their difference of their geographical location, as well as their different aspects of life. Even though they had their different life aspects, they had also had several similarities between each other.
Prior to the 1650’s, the Dutch Republic was the wealthiest and most powerful province in Holland through Amsterdam, the leading force in trade and banking. Many European nations were jealous of their success and wanted it for themselves which resulted in conflicts between the Dutch and many European powers. As a result, the Dutch Republic entered a period of decline until the Peace of Utrecht of 1713. The expensive wars with England and France, decline in trade and distrust between the Dutch provinces led to challenges in security, unity and prosperity of the Republic.
The Mark of Athena, written by Rick Riordan, is a thrilling, suspenseful, and action packed book about seven demigods going on a dangerous quest to save the world. The seven main characters are Percy, the son of Poseidon, Jason, the son of Zeus, Annabeth, the daughter of Athena, Piper, the daughter of Aphrodite, Frank, the son of Mars, Leo, the son of Hephaestus, and Hazel, the daughter of Pluto. All of these seven demigods are a mix between Roman and Greek demigods. Since ancient history, the Romans and Greeks have hated each other. But in order to complete their quest, both Romans and Greeks must overcome their differences. The plot summary of the story starts out with Leo. As an eidolon, a possessing Greek spirit, takes over his body, he starts attacking the Roman camp. This action destroyed the little trust and respect that the Romans had for the Greeks. However, this was Gaea’s doing. Gaea is one of the oldest goddesses of all. She plans to take over the world and destroy mankind. Stopping this awakening goddess is the main mission for these demigods. As the demigods sail to the...
Europeans and Americans have much more in common than most people think, making adjustments to life in a new country easier. Many customs are similar to practices in the United States. Germans have their own way of being German. Germany is a relatively small and densely populated country. Unlike the United States, which is a large, densely populated country.

The people of Greece believed in mythology and believed they were blessed by the deity which inspired the artists’ creation of the spectacular sculptures including Athena Parthenos, the goddess of wisdom. Wisdom during this period was highly regarded. Most of the sculptures in Athens were made of different types of bronze. (See Figure 1.)
The mythological story of “Athena” and the biblical story of “Solomon” both develop the theme that the wise are intelligent. One story that stuck to me was Athena aiding Perseus. Perseus needed guidance from Athena to defeat Medusa. She answered by giving him a shield to use as a “mirror”, so he would be able to cut off Medusa's head off. Athena was intelligent to think of using the shield as a mirror, so Perseus wouldn't be affected by her power. Solomon was the other wise counselor that showed intelligent conclusions. He had to make a fast ruling over two women arguing over and infant. Solomon made the decision of cutting the baby in half to determine who the child belonged to. While announcing this decision the real
The Netherlands has been a trading nation for centuries due to its open economy and outlook. The Dutch are seasoned travellers. They are proficient in languages and skilled in negotiating trade agreements and implementing projects against the odds.
deeply. The history behind both cities are very similar, but very different all at the same time.
The Netherlands is a wonderful place to vacation and has a lot much to offer. An old saying said in the Netherlands is, “God created the world, but the Dutch created Holland.” The country is sometimes called Holland though it’s only a small part of Netherlands. The people of Netherlands have pride in their country and keeps it clean and friendly. Hollanders or Nederlanders are what they called them self. However, the English speaking countries refers to them as Dutch. Many tourists each year travel to Netherlands to see its beautiful Dutch art, flowers, and its amazing architectures.
The Jews were able to fit it with the Dutch because of their common skills and merchant based economy. Even though Jews made up only one and a half percent of the Dutch population, four to six percent of the major stockholders for Dutch West India Company and Bank of Exchange were owned by Jews. Jews especially liked the Netherlands because of their focus on the economy rather than religion. The Netherlands were religiously tolerant which greatly impacted the Jews’ desire to be there. The Netherlands were such a good place for the Jews that German Ashkenazis moved there as well. In the Netherlands, a Jewish government was set up, called the Mahamad, which was led by the most important Jews in the community. The Mahamad set up schools, monitored religious observance, supervised social welfare, negotiated with Christian societies, and could excommunicate Jews. Clearly, he Netherlands became an incredibly important place for the Jews, giving them asylum, and ultimately being one of the major forces that helped bring them to New
From 1609 to 1713, the Dutch Republic was going through “The Golden Age.” It was a time of economic wealth, and a higher standard of life compared to most European countries. However, the Netherlands had the highest cost of living out of all European countries. It was the period in which mercantilism expanded, and domination of trading power was necessity. England, France, and Portugal were also expanding their boundaries of trade, which will begin a long fight for mastery at sea. The Dutch was the trading capital of the world at this time; in which is represented in this quote,” Although the Dutch tenaciously resisted the new competition, the long distance trading system of Europe was transformed from one largely conducted through the Netherlands, with the Dutch as universal buyer-seller and shipper, to one of multiple routes and fierce competitiveness.”(Encyclopedia Britannica, Vol. 24, pg. 890). The Netherlands operated in 7 provinces, known as the United Provinces, and the Dutch society was mainly consisted of bourgeoisie, sailors, and merchants. Because of the major trade industry in Holland, and that agricultural was secondary to the trading industry, the Dutch people were taxed extremely high for goods. However, a wave of culture flowed through Dutch Society, influenced by the economic profit that the Dutch gained from trade.
Our world has several countries, however, each of them has a lot of similarities and differences among them. In this essay I would like to show the similarities and differences between Belize and Mexico. I’ve always dreamed of visiting these two places since I can imagine. Belize and Mexico have lots of similarities. For example, the most important similarity is that they belong to the same continent North America the two countries are actually neighbors and have a good relationship. Another similarity between Belize and Mexico is
Throughout history there have been many great civilizations however recording all the history of each civilization is a difficult task. Such a task is usually assigned to a scribe, historian or record keeper. Herodotus is a famous Greek historian who kept such records of many events and civilizations. In particular he studied the Greek, Persian, Egyptian, and German culture and traditions. Due to the records and stories he wrote, we now are able to piece together what other civilizations appeared as through the eyes of a greek scholar.
