Assessment Descriptions
Faith was administered three informal assessments to help guide her transition plan. These three assessment were Match Maker, My Skills, Job Search Analysis, and Where Will I Live?. Match Maker is an assessment that is available to the student on the Career Cruising website. The student answers questions about her likes and dislikes in order to find careers that match with her interests. Once she has completed the Match Maker assessment, the student moves on to My Skills. For the My Skills portion, the student must decide if they have a particular skill or not by rating the skill on an index. Together, Match Maker and My Skills assessments generate a list of 40 careers that may be suitable for the student and ranks those careers by interest and skill level.
The Job Search Analysis is a checklist assessment that is broken down into 3 categories: job requirements, job skills, and job demands. The student is required to check the boxes that pertain to the career she is seeking. Where Will I Live? is an assessment of daily living skills that is split into two sections: Where Will I Live? and Am I Ready to Live Alone?. Before the assessment, Faith wanted to be a marine biologist, a career that requires a 4-year degree and extreme amounts of reading and writing. The Job Search Analysis was performed twice for two different careers in order to compare the careers Faith was interested in. By looking at the careers side-by-side, Faith was able to see what was required of each and all the work she would have to do. Faith indicated that she wishes to live alone or with a roommate after graduation. The daily living skills assessment was chosen so Faith could identify areas in which she would need improvement in to live
