The story shows a man’s struggle for American dream. The American dream is an idea that if a man works hard, his dream comes true and he will reach money and also power. A salesman has some unrealistic dreams, and his goal is gaining material success. He thinks that if he worked his dreams hard, they come true and he will achieve his goal. He wants to impose his dream upon his children, but his children are unhappy because of Willy’s dreams, his dreams don’t fill in their dreams. Willy believes that his son is very handsome boy. Because of his appearances he can be well liked. In this quote, he is talking about one of his son, Biff. WILLY (with pity and resolve): I’ll see him in the morning; I’ll have a nice talk with him. I’ll get him a job selling. He could be big in no time. My God! Willy truly believes that he is achieving American Dream because the whole basis of American Dream is become successful throughout the generations. His sons, in other words his next generations does not want to work as a salesman but Willy does not accept this situation. He believes that his sons have to go behind him and they have to work as a salesman because for him being a salesman and being a well-liked is the most important things in the world. He thinks that if you work hard as being a salesman you can achieve all your dreams and you can be a rich man.
