Ward then brings in Dawkin’s argument who says that this is exactly the universe in which there is no God. “The universe we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design, no purpose, no evil, and no good, nothing but blind, pitiless and indifference” (Dawkins). He responds saying that obviously the goal God has in mind is not to create a universe void of suffering. God gives the universe the purpose to become free, self aware sentient beings and with that comes the price of suffering and pain.
