Rape is defined in most jurisdictions as sexual intercourse, or other forms of sexual penetration, committed by a perpetrator against a victim without their consent. It can be against both male and female. However, rapes against men does not gain much importance because of the lack of cases registered due to fear among society. Victims of rape or sexual assault come from a wide range of genders, ages, sexual orientations, geographical locations, cultures and degrees of impairment or disability. Incidences of rape are classified into a number of categories;
