The DESTEP analysis consists of following factors: Demographic, Economic, Social, Technological, Environmental, and Political. Outcome of this analysis is derived from new collected data and obtained data from the previous section, country analysis. At the end of this chapter a conclusion concerning the macro environment of Thailand is made.

Thailand has a population of 67.7 million people (CIA, The World Factbook, 2014). In 2014 the average population growth rate is estimated at 0.35%. It is estimated that 34% of the Thai’s population live in urbanized areas furthermore the urban population is expected to grow 1.6% each year (The World Bank, Population growth (annual %), 2014)

The figure population pyramid presents the age and sex overview of Thailand’s population in different age categories and provides insights regarding future economic development as well as social stability. The shape of the population pyramid can change over time depended on mortality rate, fertility rate and migration trends.
