Ulysses. s. grant was a general in the civil war. He played a vital part of the north winning the war. One of the battles of the war that grant was in was called the battle of shiloh. It was one of the bloodiest battles in the civil war the union lost 13,000 soldiers and the south lost 11,000 . His unite was ambushed and later than it was called the hornets nests this technique was to make it complicated for the north .during the first wave the General Albert Sidney Johnston of the south was wounded and the second in command P. All of these major battles lead to the defeat and surrender of Robert E. Lee at the Appomattox Court House in 1865. General Grant’s military skills were gained throughout his life as a soldier. All of these skills were used as he defeated countless enemies and won major battles. His expertise’s lead him to victories throughout the whole war, which ultimately helped him play a main role in the Union victory.
