Many people believe that you do not necessarily have to be a critical reader to be a great reader. Others think that being a critical reader can cause you to miss the point of what your reading. They argue that being too focused on what to expect causes you to miss the point. They also feel that as long as you know the main topic thats all that matters. After reading this article, my opinion is to be a critical reader you must understand the topic and know what to expect by evaluating and analyzing. By doing this you must first, know what type of reader you are, know what to do to better yourself as a reader, and know how to respond to the artist such as writing an article. While reading the article, I came across a great way to better myself as a reader and that was to Read to Analyze Assumptions. Not only does it help me evaluate what I'm ready, but it also allows me to take notice of what the writer is seriously trying to say oppose to what we think they might be saying. By annotating what one is reading is also a great way to better yourself as a reader. Annotating is marking the key texts, and making note of what is important. For instance, I highlighted everything I felt was important in this article. By me doing that , it allows me to go back and reread and analyze the key points , which helps me understand the text while knowing what I am reading. With that being said, there are other points in the article that will not allow myself to become an improved reader. Such as Reading as the Writer, there is no need to read as the writer if the writer is stating what he or she means in he or she's writing. Another tip that seems a little unhelpful for myself is exploratory writing. Sometimes there is no purpose of writing after reading, it could cause me to lose interest in the whole article. Morally, tips or advice that are given in most articles have there own pros and cons, either way it does not hurt to read
