I have received your letter, are the children healthy and well? How are you lately? Have you been sick recently? I am fine, well, as right as one is capable of being over in this land. I have thought of you every second of every day, there is not one moment I have forgotten about you. I just wish to be back home again. Last time you said that Henry was feeling slightly ill, I have some medicine stashed away in the bottom cupboard near the grand clock. If he shall start to feel very poorly, you may go there and find him medicine. You will know which one it is once you see it, I do not want Henry to turn out like poor Will did. On our side, we’ve been fighting another war against Germany near the Somme River in France. This time, with the help of both our Motherland, France and Russia, but it still seems as though there is no end to the war. As soon as we gain some ground, we lose it again and are pushed back to square one. This has all been so pointless that now, we have just been ordered to kill however many Germans we are capable of. It rains so often that we are never fully dry, and there has been for a while, a pond of filth. You would not be able to guess what was in that filth, FECES! There are feces, rats, sewage, everything nasty you could think of. The rats have already grown to the size of entire hand. It is horrific to say, but these rats feed off of the carcass of our fellow dead troops. There has been so many diseases, and we are completely vulnerable to them.
